There is a way to work around this; all you have to do is edit 'hosts' file located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc adding:

    94.75.217.246 vpngate.unlimited-nl.xerobank.com
    174.142.36.113 vpngate.ca-nl.xerobank.com
    67.159.55.50 vpngate.us-nl.xerobank.com

...and any other routes you are using. Then you can enter manually XeroBank's DNS servers (10.244.1.1 and 10.244.2.1) on your NIC card and you are done! ;)

That reminds me. There use to be another service, a cheaper service, that ran on the Xerobank network. or ie a one hop service. "Shadow" something, I think. I wonder if it is still in operation.

Is there an NSL (warrant canary) indication? Has anyone mentioned the new TIEA with Panama that is retroactive to 2007 in conjunction with an NSL to nearby peers/ISPs?

Not sure what Steve's citizenship is but he may be subject to gag orders that are in effect while xB is dealing with authorities in multiple countries where US MLAs are in force with the US.

It is very strange that all of Xerobanks US nodes have been down for several weeks now. We were informed they were doing upgrades to the network only after asking. I don't think anyone received a notice of scheduled outage for maintenance. I would have thought that should have been completed by now.

Well, we know you're not psychic because you don't know Steve's citizenship.
So, taking that into account, and considering this scenario as a hypothetical, I would speculate that xb would fight an NSL like the shakedown piece of paper trash that it is.

Maybe you should invest in a bottle of the Petrero anyway. You never know. There might be a special occasion ;)

Well, after all these months of silence - you finally show up and explain in a "very detailed way", what is going on.

    Thank You :D

    Couldn't agree more.

You jump in the middle of all of this Steve, with paying customers who are getting borderline abused by your service, and quote some BS date.

The service I pay xerobank for has been 90% down.

How do I apply for a refund for the last 6 months of down time?

I've contacted support tickets multiple times, I got ahold of wizard before the new year, and here I am, in the same position. He hasn't replied to anything after I gave him my information.

I paid for 16 routes, and only one has worked in the past 6 months.

How do you answer for that?

Typical, I've just uninstalled and deleted everything to do with Xerobank in the last 2 days as I thought the connection thing was to do with me.

So is it my fault there is no contact method that works....

Hello, Bangle40, Caspian, Hierophant, et. al.!

I'm glad I found you guys here on Wilders. It looks like the last working Xerobank node at Turboprivacy Netherlands has quit accepting Xerobank credentials, and returns an "AUTH Failed" message. Of the 16 possible entry and exit nodes, we're down to zero. Or, at least I am.

Given Steve's response here, and the level of communication from Zerobank, what are your suggestions? Shall we move on? Is Cryptohippie a viable option?

I'm sorry I was not able to get back to you guys on the Xerobank forum. I tried for some months, but it doesn't look like it's coming back. Thank you for all your help there (and here). In any event, I can't wait. Like the rest of you, I'm looking for a double hop VPN/SSH2 that works. Are you guys still getting charged? I have to check and see if the auto payments are still going through.

I've got Tunnelblick configured using the "Deploy" folder, so if that helps anyone using Mac OS X, I can post examples of the .ovpn files. It's actually pretty easy, and I'm working on doing something similar for my OpenBSD machine.

When is the patriot act set to be renewed.

Because 10 years of abuse and 8 years of DPI isn't enuff chaffing, the winnowing will continue in 20 11.

take a look back and you will see that users were warned about steve but people like caspian and others always steped up and defended him so if you have lost money because of no service then you should of took on board what user grenady was saying

p.s maybe that date might not be good for users on there service

He knows that he's promised so much in the past that wasn't delivered on time that he's wizened up - now he just gives the due date but doesn't promise anything.

I view that as a step forward in honesty!

Are the exit nodes all down or not - Heirophant, you've got the service, what's it doing at the moment?

There is a continuum, ranging from “over-promise & under-deliver” to “under-promise & over-deliver.” Behaviors at either end of the continuum are less than optimal, in my opinion. As the Roman poet Ovid wisely advised, “You will go most safely in the middle.”

Okay, I just tested the Exit Nodes (for me) & I see that the Canada nodes have joined the USA nodes by being inaccessible. I was utilizing a Canada --> Netherlands connection about four hours ago with no issues. Right now I'm on the Turbo Privacy Netherlands connection & even recently was connected to the TP Random connection. The TP Random connection ONLY works when it utilizes the Netherlands exit node vs. the USA exit node. As a reminder, I had issues with the TP nodes as I stated earlier in this thread; however, wizard took care of the issue by crediting my account. Now I have no idea of why (after close to 2 years) my account became overdrawn since most of my activity occurred utilizing the TP nodes & I never had any previous issues. I did pose this question to wizard but never received a reply. I have some friends with the same issue/problem but have not heard any replies yet. Also, by reading some previous comments in this thread, there are others with the same TP connection issues. So, if it wasn't for wizard taking care of MY TP connection issue, I would NOT be able to access ANY xB nodes! So, Steve & Wizard, what now? I (we) hope xB doesn't expect customers to wait until March 1st & continue paying $35/mo for one 1-hop connection! It also looks like there are customers that have problems with TP connections so they are paying $35/mo for NO service!

    Obviously he's an American citizen.

If he was under a gag order, would that allow him to pronounce a time and date, but not write the words "I'm sorry for the problems many of you have experienced but please bear with us until ____________,"

Wizard101, people are saying that you aren't answering their e-mails. Why not?

    For what it's worth:

I'm presently connected with a Canada --> Netherlands connection. It appears that the Canada nodes have been sporadic so far today. I'll check again later in the day.
