hahhahah indeed I heard that version 4 is full of surprises..and to add it will have layered security in this version... even if the signatures dont catch something version 4 will bring strong app control and whitelisting features

Using a new set-up on one machine that I'm thinking of rolling out OS LUA/Admin type variations across them all.

    On this Vista 32 HP:

    Realtime

SBIE - all internet facing apps, readers, media players, office programmes and removable drive letters etc in individual sandboxes with very limited start/run and internet access

One recovery path for all boxes to a folder that is forced to sandbox with no internet access

EMET with all categories selected for selected apps (effectively those sandboxed plus some windows folder stuff).

SRP Deny policies on a few custom directories family members use to store school/work stuff so they can view office/PDF files etc (sandboxed) but no new executables can run and limited user policies for most user space stuff to prevent access to Admin/System locations

    Windows Vista Firewall

    On-Demand

    Shadow Defender
    MBAM
    HMP
    Avira

Only issue really is that I do not find Windows Firewall as user friendly as some others so I might try a light firewall that allows easier access to rules etc

    Cheers

Not sure that you would even need Avast with Defensewall...

Defensewall and Avast work very well together. I've been running them together for several months with no issues.

Guys I need help on setting up security on my aunt's desktop.

    Pentium 4 2.4GHz, 256MB RAM, Windows XP Professional SP3

Now I have Avast! Free and Windows Firewall up and it's like already consuming 112MB of RAM after startup.. Maybe go AVless? and just set spywareblaster up?

I'd say get some new RAM (throw the old 256MB RAM away, and get 1GB of RAM) and which is compatible with the mainbord in that computer. Buying some new RAM (1GB) is also cheaper than buying a license for a paid antivirus product every year. And then you can use avast! + Windows Firewall.
I wouldn't go AVless on your aint's desktop, I think an antivirus is the best setup for most people who don't really are pc expert.

I've used DW @ different PCs.
I added some Anti-KeyLogging protection and an ISR or Boot-to-Restore solution.;)
