Good! It makes me sick to see these companies rip off ignorant people.

Better than nothing, but tens of thousands sounds like a slap on the wrist.

I can think of a few companies with fairly big followings on this site that engage in deceptive marketing. Hopefully they get nailed soon too.

My computer used to be fast, then I used FinallyFast. Now it's only half-fast! :D

Not sure what companies acr1965 was referring to, but I'm sure it's true.
No one's walk measures up to their talk. The marketers write checks the developers can't cash, the customers pay the price.

You're not sure which companies are being referred to, yet you're nevertheless "sure it's true" that these un-named companies with the un-specified 'big followings on this site' are involved in deceptive marketing practices and need to "get nailed soon too".

    Pure logic at its finest.

No need to actually hear any name of such company or companies-- which of course we haven't yet from the person who made the claim, 'acr1965'.
But we can just be "sure it's true" anyway, eh?

It's a decision which affects Washington State only.
Washington State has no jurisdiction to oversee any Ascentive LLC website or control what's on the radio waves outside of anything emanating from within Washington State.

I'd have to agree that there's plenty more of these companies. While I no longer see Finally Fast ads on TV any more, there's very similar ads for products making the same claims. It even looks like some of the same "customers" bragging it up. It wouldn't surprise me if it's the same group under another name.

As for companies on this site, do we have to name the one that appears to have a strong security product, one with a lot of users here, but whose practices regarding certificates and other items have been found questionable at best?

I'm glad that something got done about FinallyFast scamming users with fake television ads.

Now they need to do something about MyCleanPC.com by CyberDefender.
It is just as bad as FinallyFast. I'm sick of seeing their scam commercials on TV.

Thanks for the news Dogbiscuit :)
