I remember i used it before, it looked quite dull but i didn't try it long enough.

For the time that i used it, it was quite easy, no hassles, no major slowdowns etc. And the setting are extremely simple :D

it is good but resource usage is kinda high.

check the AAWservice.exe in the taskmanager.

They completely left out Avira Free, MSE and Avast.
Ad-Aware Free Internet Security is a joke, it just has the AV, nothing else and they call it a security suite? It is bloated and uses too many resources, Windows response time increases drastically. The recent reviews from PC Mag have been not worth while. Leave out the best three free AV's and give a bloatware the award.

    Thanks.:)

Lol, PCMag doesn't include avast!, MSE, Avira, ZoneAlarm, VIPRE and Prevx in the comparison, because they don't use year numbers as version numbers. So they don't have an 2011 version, they call them all "outdated".

    :D

How about somebody tell them McAfee 2011 = McAfee 2010, exactly the same.
And that Norton is just a minor upgrade, like avast! 5.2 would be for example.
    And that F-Secure is actually called 2010.50 = 2011.
And so on, and so on.

Ad-aware increases boot time and updates are slow. But after system start up there is no heaviness. Never tried the pro version though which scans on-access and has additional protection modules.

No, version 4 = 2009. So it must be massively outdated. Therefore it should be compared to Norton and Kaspersky 2009. According to PCMag :D

I had paid version of adaware and norton 2011. You know which was thrown out and what was left in my system.

Anyway, I wanted a multilayer protection and in came Mr. Panda again:D

    And Panda's partner, Mr. Malwarebytes......

Many years ago, long before Malwarebytes, Superantispyware, there was...oh well the good old days. Still a weak spot.

    That's right :doubt:

I have to wait 2 additional minutes on startup until the updates are finished! :( I think it's time to ditch it now ...

I remember that good old days when Ad-Aware was one of the best spyware and adware removers.

Too bad Lavasoft destroyed it and made it into a bloatware.
The worst part about it now, is you can't just use it for on-demand scans.
It installs Windows services that you can't disable that runs in your system's background and drags Windows down. When installing it now, it won't continue until your uninstall your current real-time AV.

I hope Lavasoft is reading this, make a lite version of Ad-Aware for on-demand scans only like v.6 no unnecessary Windows services. Most users don't want another AV even if it is free.

And PCMag shame on you for being deceptive with your reviews, you are losing all of your credibility. When users read your reviews they will not believe them, PCMag = fake paid reviews. The next time I want to hear a good joke, I will visit PCMag and see what they can come up with next.

    Thanks.:)
