    F-secure could also improve their application control - it's a bit half-baked.

    Well, compared to Kaspersky's it is.

    i belive F-Secure won only because it use not only their own engine but also Bitdefender engine, because without the other engine it would not score this much, that's just my though

    its a different concept, its not intended to be like KIS's lol, thats like asking why mamutu isnt as comprehensive and granular as MalwareDefender, theyre diff products with a diff way of working. not saying its perfect the way it is, but its not going to be KIS.

    Avira had the same certifications received and the reason to separate it from F-Secure is very subjective.

    I am disappointed by AV-Comparatives.org decission. They should either gave them both a distinction, either choose a more adequate criterion.

    They explained that very well, they have chosen for the product which made the most progress in comparison to last year.

    So basically not giving Avira the award is the biggest compliment AV-C could give. Since it means that Avira not only performed great this year, but also last year (better than F-Secure).

    Another reason for choosing F-Secure was that it was the best performing product in the Whole Product Dynamic Test.

    AV-C pretty mcuh stated that the Dynamic test was given a lot of weight as the best gauge of true protection, and that the vendors themselves (as well as many users) agreed about this. Even though I use Avira, and don't plan on using something else, I have no problems with F-Secure being the big winner. I would actually place Avira third, behind Symantec after looking at the results.

    Has nothing to do with working for free. I'm talking about the product quality, they charge, they get money from it, the minimum the user deserves is constant improvements and better features. :isay:

    Sorry about posting this info again. Just noticed it in the F-Secure Forum that's why.
    Actually I am using Shaw-Secure which is an identical co-branded version of F-Secure, available at no-charge to Shaw Internet customers in Western Canada.
    Personally I am very satisfied with this product's performance.

    So, Gold is going to Helsinki, Finland, gratulations F-Secure. I tried 2010 Internet Security, was good, i liked. But going to stay with ESET Smart Security, for me is this the best choice, light, simle, working perfect.

    For 2011: Gold = ESET Smart Security 5:D
    Silver = Norton 2011:)
    Bronz = Kaspersky 2011.;)

    You can't have the same winner every year, that wouldn't be "politically correct" for the testers :D

    We both (like millions of users) surely have our own winner ;)

    So you think that F-Secure doesn't have a product with good quality?
    And that they don't add new features every now and then?

    Avira can always claim the the top position (without the award) on their website as a promotional move.

    Basically, you're right.
    Just clarify that the only vendors to achieve this award two times were ESET and Kaspersky.
    Since then, the test methodology has changed a lot and are becoming more stringent and objective.
    Because every time there is better competition, I'm glad AV-C decided to recognize the efforts of each AV vendor. :)

    I was a little bit surprise that Eset NOD32 didn't get an award.

    As of now I am using Avast Free 5.1.889 but now after seeing the comparative results I am now planning to try Avira Antivir again...coz the scores are very impressive. Gosh all ADV+ and they have freeware version.

    I've used Avira in the past but uninstalled it because of the many false positives alarm that pops out in my pc. And was dismayed that it really have identified some of the trusted programs I've downloaded as a virus, or trojan..etc..even some of the past created typed word documents and even pictures. I have no choice but to remove it in my pc. Even on some internet cafes I've visited using Avira on their pc...the sounds of its pop ups alarm is very annoying especially if you're hearing it left and right. :ninja: :D . But most of the internet cafes here are also using Deep Freeze.

    Hhmmnn....maybe Avira Antivir have already improved and they have lowered their false positive alarm?

    What's your experience with Avira? :cautious:

    I was surprised that ESET did not pick up an award too :(
    I have now switched over to a trial version of F-Secure IS to see how it compares over the next month.

    I also gave Avira a shot, I did not find the interface as polished as I would have liked and also found the system to be slowed down a lot, especially at startup...which was a shame as the detection rates look good.

    NOD32 has always impressed me with its light system usage and great interface. I hope they can get the detection rate up in the future and who knows, 2011 could be the year for them :)

    Aha , well , that's a different story . Just being light and having "great" interface doesn't make a given product AV of the year. For antivirus of the year it must be much more.So I gather you are now not that surprised :thumb:

    What should it do more then?
    Protect you against so called "zero-day" malware which will never ever reach a consumer's pc?
