    Hi all,

It looks like the creators of Spybot Search & Destroy just released a portable version of this application.

I know that many people have since dumped Spybot in lieu of MBAM and SAS but since this one is portable it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot for the malware cleaning apps that can be run from a USB thumb drive.

    Best regards,

    Carlos

This looks interesting, but I had a bad experience with SpyBot once. I inadvertently fired-up 'Teatimer' during a routine update & even uninstalling SpyBot from your computer can apparently leave Teatimer behind acting like HAL 9000 in the movie 2001 A Space Odyssey!

A flashdrive sounds like the best place for it. ;)

Also, I honestly think that SpyBot is getting a bit long in the tooth. It missed a trojan I once contracted about three years ago that SUPERAntiSpyware caught.

    Hi JRViejo,

Thanks so much for pointing out this information. I didn't know about it.
I came across with SB S&D portable this morning while browsing the MajorGeeks web-site which by the way, I visit every day just to get the latest versions of some software utilities I use on my computers and laptops at home.

Oh, before I forget JR, that web-site you posted [PortableApps.com] is an excellent apps resource when you want to download, install and run apps from a USB thumb drive. I've got myself a thumb drive which I have loaded with a bunch of portable stuff like: OpenOffice portable, Foxit Reader portable, Mozilla Firefox portable, CCleaner portable, RevoUnistaller portable, etc., among others.

    Kind regards,

    Carlos

Can't download it right now, so can't see for myself. Is there a way to exclusively run "Immunization"?

What can Spybot Portable do that other malware detectors cannot?

Its Cool Spybot is portable now but I have long since ditched it.... As Far as portable scanners. Id rather use SuperAntispyware and then Hitman Pro. As far as portable scanners I think those 2 pretty much have me covered.
