Under 10.10 it corrupts the downloads from update manager which is bad as you end up with a very broken Ubuntu which takes a lot of fixing.

Since dmaasland hasn't replied they didn't do a update or trashed the os after an update.

Doesn't look like Eset are looking to fix the update masher either. I guess the Linux version is doa.

    Hello,

Which build of ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Linux Desktop are you using with Ubuntu 10.10?

The problem is known (to me) since the 13. October 2010, which was the date I installed Ubuntu 10.10 for the first time.
Since then was no newer version of the ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Linux desktops made avaiable.

There where also some problems with an actual used (updated) Ubuntu 10.04.

I think ESET have to work much on the compatibility with Ubuntu!

@Spiral123: Mint uses Ubuntu as basis - so it's normal, that it has the same problems.

    Hello,

Just to confirm, you are on the v4.0.26 (01 July 2010) release, correct?

Last updated version. Had to remove it otherwise Ubuntu would be destroyed every update. You can't always bring it back from the dead.

    Good morning,

there where a response from ESET to an ticket regarding that problem:

    ~Private communication removed.~

This response is dated: Fr 15.10.2010 16:22

It's a pity that there is no improvment since then.
But as you can see in the post about the expired licence for the ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Linux desktops, there should be a new version in some time...
    :'(

    Hello,

A new version is in the works, although I do not have a date for its release yet. When that information is available, it will be announced here in the forum and elsewhere. In the meantime, the license for the beta version of ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Linux Desktops has been extended to January 31, 2010.

    Regards,

    Aryeh Goretsky

Checked the change log no mention of a fix for the broken update.
I don't really want my os wiped out again after another update.

With the RC the problem with Ubuntu 10.10 is gone.
On my virtual machine I can install other programs after ESET RC without problems.
There are some other little problems with the RC, but it's an RC!

Why should I boot Linux after install of ESET? o_O
An good Linux box must only be rebootet after change the kernel.

    Hello,

You should be able to successfully download updates under Ubuntu 10.10 with Release Candidate for ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Linux Desktop installed on the computer. If you are experiencing problems doing this, please let us know.

    Hello Aryeh Goretsky,

so please tell me, why I should reboot Linux (the same on Mac OSX) after install ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Linux Desktop.
Why is one of the services started on an Linux box named esets_mac?
On Ubuntu the version of the siganture database is not correct displayed.
If I look direct for the version of em002_32.dat it is the newest, but in the program is the version displayed, that was found on boot.
Why is it possible to remove root from the privileged users in the custom install? It's not possible to prohibit root on Linux. (this is the same on Mac OSX)
