It's actually quite good. Check the av-compartives.org ratings... I'd say it's about as good as Avast, perhaps not quite as good as Avira or Symantec. But still very good.

Just added Trend Micro SafeSync online backup / storage to the arsenal . Sale ends Jan. 4th for anyone interested- unlimited storage for home use, continuous backup, sale is $35 for 1 year which is about 40% off- it is essentially the same as humyo.com.
    https://www.humyo.com/

Android app works fine on my phone to access files.

The settings were left on default. Same with Avast and ESS. Sorry, but ESET was light years ahead of CIS against the 0 day malware I tested. While not perfect, it performed much, much better.

CIS = fail in my tests. Big time. I shouldn't have to tweak a ton of settings or tell it to trust nothing. I didn't have to tweak Avast or ESS.

no problem- I updated over in the backup forum. everything seems to be running pretty well. Now I guess I'm left with whether to get a snapshot program like RollbackRX or just do some imaging program like from the new Todo backup.

Question- has anyone used the built in Image program in Windows 7 Ultimate? Does it make an image of the entire drive (ex- installed programs) or just the bare metal image (or whatever it's called)??

Currently trialing ESET Smart Security, since the popups of ESET NOD32 Antivirus to renew my license we're getting annoying.
When ESET Smart Security starts to pop-up because my trial will end, I will investigate option 2. I will test out Avira Personal again, since I heard the ads are gone, however it is a shame it lacks the Dutch language.

Many thanks to Sully. Now running sandboxie (paid) with avast free as a backup. Very light set up and I believe very secure.

I have used it. You can make an image of an entire hard drive or you can backup selected files. Restoring an image is slow compared to other backup solutions.

    Removed Avast Internet Security

    Installed Avira Antivir Personal Free
Installed PC Tools Firewall + v7
    Installed Sandboxie (free version)

Works well together and very secure. Protects against keyloggers, exploits, trojans, virii, and malware in general that come through the internet and executables.

Avast IS was light, easy to use, and partially effective. It missed keyloggers as most AV's will. The only preventative I've found was to sandbox the browser or virtualize the OS. I would rather prevent one then discover one has been collecting my keystrokes through detection.

What would you consider slow? I have a 250 GB C drive that would be imaged/restored and it is about 1/2 full if that means anything.

    thanks

A little change to paid protection:

    On Access-
    NIS 2011
Malwarebytes - web url disable - block to many website
Adaware - file block disable - conflict with NIS file access

    On Demand-
SAS - Realtime protection does not detect anything and resource hog on boot
Hitman Pro - Good for detecting Bootsector and rootkit virus

    little change to free setup:

    On Access -
    PC Tools Firewall - HIPS
PC Tools Threat Fire - BB
Panda Clouda - (in the cloud) good at blocking but suck at removal
Avira Antivirus - good at blocking but suck at removal

    On Demand-
    SAS
    Adaware
    Malwarebytes
    Hitman Pro
