No problem, I selected 10 keys and got an email that said I saved 299 bucks :D freebies are always nice. Plus from what I can tell you don't have to use the key right away. Enjoy the deal everyone :D

    Doesn't Ad-Aware Pro now use Sunbeltsoftware's 'Vipre' anti-virus engine?

One of the reviews on the cnet site said it slowed their computer down too much. I might try this out on a spare computer to see how it is but it isn't something I would use on my main computer.

Install the product and take a look at the virus definitions. Should mention the engine they use. You could also take a look at the definition and match it to vipre. I'm going to take a look at this and see how she runs.

It's still bloatware but the updates are a bit faster now :)

I can't remember which the pro uses. Free uses Vipre + Lavasoft but I know total security was based upon G-Data + Lavasoft code.

Good Evening ! Just took advantage of the offer...and currently running a full scan with Ad-Aware Pro. Will keep everyone updated as to my experiences with Ad-Aware Pro. A few glitches with installing but went to the Direct Link download at CNET and everything progressed sequentially afterwards. A decent gesture on Lavasoft's and Cnet's part. Sincerely...Securon

    Thanks for the heads-up. :)

I got it after wasting an hour with rigmarole at the CNET! website. I have the registration code...finally!

Good Evening ! Just ran a full scan...and the scan almost topped two hours...and nothing found. Decided to return to Avast Anti-Virus Pro...it's scans are much quicker, and it's virtualization is a plus. Sincerely....Securon

    yep, it does.

i installed it in a VM to check. program files has quite a few sunbelt-signed libraries (for the rootkit engine, etc)

it took forever for ad-aware to start at boot though. not sure if it's like that at every boot, as i only installed it to test it out real quick. memory usage wasn't bad, but i usually don't care about that as all of my machines have more than enough. didn't run a scan since i had other stuff going on that i needed to take care of. the ui is really simple, likely very easy for a novice to interpret. has options to either prompt for removal or hide everything (again, for a novice user or someone who doesn't wanna be bothered constantly)

    Hi, all--happy holidays

gave it a run, finding that the boot speed and its high resource consumption may pour cold water onto some, if not many, users.

Other features may have been improved, however, who need to use a not-most application to drag down system speed, and makes your enjoyable computing task become a waiting--waiting one.

IMHO these kind of "security apps" should be considered "close-to-scams". Big heavy programs that slow down computers and detections not being at the top of the rankings (not to mention missing features like virtualization).

Ad-Aware was useful 5 years ago, now it should be withdrawn giving its uselessness...

I gave this a try on a client's Pentium 4 single core 2 GB machine this evening.
Perman seems to have best summed up my thoughts on this one!
