I purchased Hit Man Pro 12-24 and have some questions about updating. Does it update automatically? How can I tell that it has updated? Thank you.

You don't need to update the signatures database. Since the the signatures provided by the several engines are located in the cloud. So when you are scanning Hitman Pro will contact the cloud to scan.
But when your internet connection is down it will still be able to detect malware due to the behavioral scan and classifying by an score.
On launch of Hitman Pro it will detect on program updates automatically.

I actually think I will just have it installed on my pc for the whole year again, and never use it; since I won't be infected anyway. So my expectations about what the product is meant to do (curing infections) are non-existent. My only expectations therefore are: maintain being a nice company, and maintain delivering a pretty product. Good luck and a happy new year.

Then you discovered the product some months too late :D. They were both included a while ago.

Coming a bit late into this, but just recently decided to make use of "Scan computer daily during startup". But that option doesn't stay ticked. I set to do the Quick Scan, click on OK and Close, but if I reopen Hitman Pro the option is unticked. As if Hitman Pro is checking its own startup and not the computer's.
Even if I don't reopen Hitman Pro and at least 24 hours pass, it does not do the scan on next computer startup - that's what made me discover the issue with the option not staying selected.

Advice, please. I'm on Win XP Home SP3, fully patched.

Are you running Hitman Pro under Administrator privileges?
Are you running Hitman Pro sandboxed (using tools like Sandboxie)?

    Hi Erik,
    Yes and No, respectively.

Sure not everything is known about the reasons why they are not included anymore, but I don't think that is the reason. I don't think that SurfRight's behavior was decisive in both of those products not being included anymore.

    Hi,

My Hitman Pro detected a suspicious trojan (C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows\tmp.edb).
    This file can be dangerous?

P.S I used Hitman Pro to remove it, and after restarting the computer and run a new scan, the file was detected again!
