Vhs to DVD question

    I converted my tapes to dvd on my player.but the discs only play on my player and also will not play on pc. Is this normal? thanks for reply

    What software did you use to convert and what format did you convert it in to? What player?

    no format played vhs directly into dvd player pressed record on player.

    did you finalise the disk once you are done copying? Or some similar option that allows the content to be played elsewhere

    no idea how to do that ther's no option on the player for that.

    Depends on the player/recorder. I have a Panasonic and the option to finalize is under DVD Management.

    Han I have a Toshiba Would you know how to find DVD management?

    I also have a Panasonic but mine is under functions.
    Have you a manual for your recorder??
    I know ihate reading manuals also.

    And remember to keep your VHS casettes also. A home burned DVD won't last forever.
    I burned a couple of cd´s with christmas music 4 years ago and this year none of them were playable :mad:
    Even if I used no-name cd´s, it's just a matter of time even if I have used braned cd's.
    Your casettes will probbably last longer than your dvd's.

    I find it weird that the discs aren't playing on PC, with the right player/codec, PCs play anything.
    Which files/extensions are on burned discs? Maybe you can use sth like GSpot Codec tool on one of the discs, then post screenshot here.

    Thanks everyone got the manual off the webb .Looks like ill be home.Really appreciate the help.

    Just foot note wasn't finalizing disc.Everything o.k. now Thanks again Cudini you had it.
