I don't know about running OA without the HIPS. I am going to use my OA license on a laptop. I have been using Privatefirewall with Defensewall because it was recommended in another thread. As for your second question I would not think that would be a problem. Even if there is you should be able to run it as trusted and it would work.

I think DefenseWall and BufferZone are the easiest to use.

i removed Shadow Defender and installed Rollback RX yesterday.
i want to see how my workflow is different between those 2 app and which one i like the best.
i need to try this setup for a couple more days to see if it's gonna "stick".

    -----------------------------------------------------
    edit:
i took advantage of the holiday sale for Rollback RX seen in the Backup forum here @ Wilders and just bought myself a holiday gift! :)

I added Genie Timeline Professional, so my setup looks: DWPF + Windows Firewall + Genie Timeline Pro.

so far it seems stable and i'm liking it.

unlike Shadow Defender i don't have to switch in & off "virtual land" by rebooting.
it is more flexible than SD and allows me to have a more relaxed workflow.

the main sell for me it that is is like restoring a system image in 20 seconds instead of 20 minutes.
Probably like a Windows System Restore on steroids. ;)

i've only tested RX for a day or so but it seems to do well what it's designed for.

i like the company Gold Support policy which allows you to get updates for life for a very reasonably priced (10$) yearly subscription.
it keeps the company in business and i might get a good product with a viable future.

i still need to test RX for a few more days though to make sure it passes my approval. ;)

I missed the sale on bits de jur a few weeks ago for Rollback rx. I think I may get in on this one. Rollback RX looks very nice. But I saw a post in the help forum where some rogue av disabled it. I guess those things happen. Does Rollback rx store the images on portable hard drives or can it also store images online if I have skydrive from MS?

Also, are there any known conflicts with Rollback rx? Like if I run Defensewall and Rollback rx?

    thanks

Sounds like a good addition, I'll give it a try, though it may be redundant with Acronis. Any idea how long the sale is for?

My security setup is in my sig.

Not listed is Zemana, it's on my XP sp3 system.

    Zemana doesn't work on x64 & SpyShelter's free version

    doesn't work on x64. :'(

MailWasher only needs to be one computer. ;)

Incorrect Zemana does work on x64 as I have used it (although its only one module that protects right now)

    for your first question:

the Snapshots are saved on the same drive as your OS
Rollback RX works with "Snapshots", not Images.
you still need to use a regular Image app once in awhile.

one needs to keep something in mind when using software like RX:
if you want to defrag or do a regular system image you need to uninstall RX first, do your maintenance, then re-install RX.

i recommend visiting their forum as well as the forums here @ Wilders to know what you're getting into.

    you second question:
the best answer is to download the trial and try for yourself.
what might work on my computer might not work on yours...

That is probably because he has configured Sandboxie with Internet access restrictions.

That has to be a joke? Surely? imo nobody needs more than two 3rd party security apps to have peace of mind.

Genie Timeline is a backup program, like TimeMachine on Mac OS.

Switched to Zemana. I feel it really may be enough just by itself. Very good product. :thumb:
