    Hi Folks

couple of problems in my system, hope you guys can give some input on that

    1. there is a process running System consuming 100% CPU utilization
Checked everything but could not relate it with any application

    2. I found a paging file of almost 1.5 gb in C drive ,. dont know what that is for

    What is your Operating System?

    32 bit or 64 bit?

    How much RAM is installed?

What "Active" Security Software is installed?

A couple of possible causes of high System CPU usage are:

    1. Other programs running in the background.

    2. Computer Malware (i.e., Trojans, Viruses, Worms, Spywares, etc.)

Have you done a thorough check for Malware recently?

Download, install, update and then run a "Full" scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

Heat and/or a device driver - other potentials. You didn't mention many details Hossie. Is it sluggish? @ boot? After a few hours ...?

Might wanna (under "is it necessary to have nvsvc32.exe as one of my startup programs?") disable this one. Your second opinion.

Also, check event viewer logs for error and or warnings as they might offer more clues.

It's the "System Idle Process", actually tells that your CPU is 78% idle (doing nothing). Check the graph on Performance tab.

If your RAM ever gets full, the system will swap to page file. Some more reading.

    Thanks for the response guys

    1. Operating system : Windows XP ( 32 bit )
    2. Memroy : 1 Gb
    3. Have checked for the malwares and found none, infact and reformatted
    the system.
    4. Its not sluggish... it boots fine and then works fine .. but its just that I need to find out what exactly is consuming so much of CPU .

From BIOS , I checked the CPU temp and found it to be varying between 29C to 35 C which I think is fine.
