Which is a better high performance router? The Netgear 3700 or Linksys E3000 or even dlinks high end one (cant remember model number).
The following are some reviews: Linksys E3000 Review: http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wire...0-high-performance-wireless-n-router-reviewed D-Link DGL-4500 Review: http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wire...nd-80211n-for-the-impatient-dgl-4500-reviewed NETGEAR WNDR3700 Review: http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wire...5-start-your-buying-netgear-wndr3700-reviewed
The following is probably not what you are looking for. However, it is the kind of Router that I would get if I needed a Wireless Router. It is not setup for gaming, wii, etc. 'out of the box'. That requires lots of manual configuration. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833181136
I've had one for six months. Best router I've owned. I love the gigabit networking and I've teamed it with an eight port gigabit switch as I have more than four computers on the network. Wireless N is fast too.
How does the Billion 7800N compare with the ZyXEL Wireless b/g/n Router, above? Until now, I have not heard of Billion Routers. Are Billion products sold in the USA? Thanks in Advance.
Zyxel of course! http://www.zyxelguard.com/ZyWALL-USG20.asp http://www.zyxelguard.com/ZyWALL-USG20W.asp http://www.zyxelguard.com/ZyWALL-USG50.asp http://www.zyxelguard.com/ZyWALL-USG100.asp http://www.zyxelguard.com/ZyWALL-USG200.asp http://www.zyxelguard.com/ZyWALL-USG300.asp .
From a quick glance at the spec sheets (and I mean quick) they look both similar high-end routers aimed at the SOHO market. Billion trade as BEC in the U.S. The one thing that is great about them is their support - top quality. If you want really high-end though, look at a Cisco SOHO router or check out the Sarian DR6410....loads of choice out there. Your budget is probably the key deciding factor.
I found one online merchant located in the USA that sells the Billion 7800N. http://www.expansys-usa.com/billion-bipac-7800n-802-11n-adsl2broadband-router-uk-182959/
I have trouble recommending one. It is difficult doing a comparison of each feature. Therefore, I am going to do the following based on the current NewEgg*com user feedback reviews: Number of reviews followed by the percent of people who gave 4 & 5 Star Ratings. Linksys 210/71 D-Link 478/75 NETGEAR 422/78 Take the number of reviews and multiply by the percent and then divide by 100. Linksys 149 D-Link 359 NETGEAR 329 D-Link is the "Winner".
I decided on the netgear 3700 which i discovered supports openwrt and ddwrt. From my research i have concluded openwrt is more difficult to install and manage. I want to know if i should even bother to try both or just stick with ddwrt. This will be my first flashing of a router.
