In the real time scanning I have only the "Extensions" selected for scanning and this rule is being completely ignored with ESS scanning every single file it comes across .db .log .this and .everything else. This is paticulaly painfull when the likes of MS FSX is launched. ATM I have a large number of folder roots excluded but this is not the real answer to the issue.
Is this a known bug or have I missed something. It is driving me nuts to say the least.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thx
    Pete

    sorry... ESS version 4.2.67.10

How do you know that the files are actually scanned? Could you try renaming the eicar test file to eicar.log or eicar.db and then attempt to access it with real-time protection enabled to see if it is actually detected?

Watching the following screen is telling what file are being scanned.. from txt to cab yet they are not in the extension list.

This one below is when I just enter into a folder....

No, that means the files you see go through real-time protection but not that they are actually scanned. Hence I suggested to use the eicar test file with the extension renamed to confirm or deny that such files are still scanned.
