    99% hang continues

I refer to recent posts concerning the 99% hang problem. It is still occurring with latest 118 build. See screenshots.

P.S. Erik, did you receive the dump file for the beta version of 3.5.8.118? So, it appears to be an on going problem on this snapshot, at the least.

The free button isn't available on corporate computers. Read EULA which states that only home users and helpdesks/service centers and repair centers that serve home users are allowed to use the free trial. Hitman hides the free button on corporate PCs.

See here for a list of cheap business licenses:

    Hope this helps.

It is a personal computer. Hmm...maybe because it was reimaged with a image from the work? Is it tied to network location maybe? I think it might still be set to domain.

Tonight I was messing with some exe files from malc0de and I noticed a white umbrella on a red background icon in a couple of detections. And the umbrella looked exactly like the one used by... Avira. But no similar icon in the opening splash. Very interesting.

Same thing here. A few days ago I did notice the red umbrella flagging some stuff, but forgot to ask here why... As far as I remember I believe it has to do with the agreement between SurfRight and the vendor, in this case perhaps Avira asked not to be shown on the main screen but still allows HMP to use their engine. Not sure tho. o_O

From the moment Avira left, new detections are not added but the old Avira detections are still there. I think this is only for Avira, the other vendors who left are totally gone.

What is scanned when the "Default" scan is selected? Also, what is scanned when the "Quick" scan is selected?

    Thanks in Advance.

Are there any plans on implementing a feature in Hitman which makes it so Hitman automatically scan all the downloaded files via browser?

For instance, I download the latest codec pack from www.whateversite.com to my desktop and Hitman automatically does an on-demand scan on the file to check for malware?

That would mean Hitman Pro will have to use a realtime process (which also means the program will install more: files/registry keys/services/start up item/drivers), or it would have to integrate in all major browsers.

I don't see that addition coming in the next couple of releases.

The problem with Hitman Pro updating on right-click scans still exists.(Right click scan a file -> HMP starts -> looks for updates -> if it finds one, downloads it -> HMP restarts and instead of the file scanned it goes to the main menu.)

Default scan scans memory and critical system areas(Program files, user/program data, temp files etc. if you want to know exactly what it all scans you need to wait for a reply from someone who knows.)
    Quick scan scans only memory.

Don't work for me, Erikloman. I checked then I close HMP and I reopen again, and it was unchecked. I tried a few times, and always unchecked.

I decide to uninstall HMP and reinstall it again, and I did the same, don't work for me, sorry.o_O

I was trying out the Hitman Pro context menu scan. When I tried to scan a large (~35 MB) software installer exe, Hitman Pro would not scan the file and the exe file was trying to open and run. Is this a "bug"?

    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,

I tried the right click scan on EICAR, but Hitman Pro did not detect anything. Is it normal or the right click scan is not working?

    Thanks

That doesn't explain smage's post. It says that HMP will not upload files bigger than 25MB after (compression.) What smage says(and I have also experienced this a few times) is that HMP doesn't start at all and instead the file is executed.

The fact that a scanner reports correctly that a file called EICAR.COM contains the EICAR string, doesn't tell you whether it will detect macro viruses, for example. If I wanted to be really picky, I'd have to say that it doesn't actually tell you anything except that the scanner detects the EICAR string in files with
    a particular extension. :argh:

    Hi Loman brothers,

what is your opinion on Comodo DACS?

That whole thread is going pathetic. But there is also a good post by Emsisoft which contains a comparison of DACS and SurfRight (with some assumptions made).
