Thank you acr1965 for the heads up. Now have a registered copy of Defensewall. Been wanting to give it a drive but did not have the extra $.

Ilya Rabinovich, Thank you for the discount and an excellent anti-malware tool.

No offense meant by this but the term personal firewall seems to be a little confusing. Maybe a different definition or different wording would avoid confusion.

So to get this straight in my mind Defensewall is a system firewall against malware be it on the system or the internet. Right?

    Edit: Typo

I've used Defensewall with both Avast and Prevx with no issues.

Is Defensewall compatible with Online Armor? I have OA Premium on my computer but was looking at replacing GeSWall with Defensewall since Softpedia had such a good deal on it.

does anyone know for how long this offer will be available?

also, how does defensewall personal firewall differ from defensewall hips?
i've heard a lot of good things about defensewall hips, but nothing about this personal firewall
is this the talked about hips program + a firewall?

    ty.

DW HIPS + FW replaces GW and Online Armor. Since you seem to have Returnil on board also R + DW is more than enough

Thanks for the info. So I'll need to uninstall OA and GeSWall if I add Defensewall. How does the firewall component in Defensewall compare with OA?

Kees- see Ilya's posts in post 23 and 24 of this thread. He says DW+fw is not a firewall. Or are you talking about another aspect of the DW fw? I agree with others that the name "firewall" of DW needs changed. We're not supposed to run two firewalls at the same time, now we have a firewall of defensewall that can be ran with other fw's because it's not a real fw? It's very confusing. The download page on the DW site is confusing as well. Maybe it's not all that confusing for those familiar with DW but to the average Joe just looking for some good security it'll give a headache thinking about it all. And I have a headache now :)

I'm not so big to put in new term/definition of a security product. I have to adapt DW to already existing ones.

    Right.

    1. That's one of the industry myths. Two firewalls can be working together on one computer if its developer wants it.
    2. DW can work with any other PF (but OA, temporary) because I want things this way.

If I go ahead and get the Softpedia deal on Defensewall do I have to use it then or can I wait until the OA issue is fixed?

What I meant is a lot of those deals you have to use it then or it won't work. I was wondering if the Defensewall deal was like that or if I wait would I still be able to use the Softpedia license if I hold of on installing it.

I get the feeling from a post I made at OA forums that this is something that may or may not happen. I think I'll use OA on another computer. Does anyone know of a good software firewall that works well with Defensewall?

Thanks I'll look into Private Wall. :thumb:

Edit: I just downloaded Privatefirewall 7.0.22.7. I assume that is what I want.

The case with OA closed. It was about very strange code generation issue on my side. Update will be available next year, with 3.10 release.

I have installed Defensewall with Privatefirewall. So far so good. Thanks Ilya for such a great deal on Defensewall. I had been looking at Defensewall before but the budget wouldn't allow it. :)

Edit: Does anyone know of a good tutorial as far as what settings I should use with Defensewall?
