Is it really v2 final or is it some upgrade to version 1? At the link it mentions version 1. o_O

    Thanks. :)

I was finding odd that at the download page it mentions version 1.

Nice to know it's finally out.

Will it be automatically updated to the newest version through the built-in updater or do I have to update it manually? Thanks in advance.

I'd say so. I downloaded it and it says it's version 2.0.657.0. I still haven't upgraded.
I'm wondering if it will automatically upgrade from one language version to another, though. I will find it out later, it seems. :D

The version number on the download page hasn't been updated from version 1. But it is version 2.0.657.0 that is available for download.

In the course of time we will see how good MSE 2 is, but one thing is for sure it does represent a threat to the sales potential of those producing commercial anti malware software. These guys rely on windows operating systems being vunerable, Microsoft reducing the vunerability by its own means is not in their interests, so I guess we will start hearing some noise real soon.

You know... I believe the bicycle business is a way out for them. The way the planet is polluted... Well... we all need to start riding on a bike. :D

Yes, indeed... it will be a damn great business to start in the future. :D

What is the status of subscription updates? Last time I checked (months and months ago) you needed to hack the registry or I believe I read you could schedule updates via Windows scheduling tool. Is this still the case or does its GUI have update options now? Thank you!

Why not go with MSE until Avast comes out of beta? After all comparing a beta with a final release product is a bit unfair isn't it?

Did you have any exceptions in the settings tab? If yes, did it retain them? The last time the beta updated to 2.0.522.0, I lost all my settings

I would like to know if there is a change log too. I heard there is a behavior monitor in this version of MSE. Is that true? Also, there some integration with the Windows firewall? Is that similar to http scanning?

Some settings have been modified by me.

This new version is huge improvement over v1 but still it takes too long to update itself , too long to proceed when a virus has been detected (EICAR) - e.g. when downloading Eicar , it poped-up immediaately but when I clicked CLEAN , it took it about a minute to say I was protected and to delete the file
