Your question has already been answered several times by various people. If you still don't understand it, RTFM.

I have been messing with this off and on for a few weeks and it has always hung at 99%. Felt my machine was clean, so I was not too concerned...............and now, of course, it's working fine.......I guess.

Can I have a remote look on Monday to see what's going on? Please PM if you're willing to let me have a look at the problem.

No problem at all with XP Pro SP3 here.
Scans up to 100% all the time.

    New Shopping Cart

For those who might be interested:

Our web shop cart is now handled by Cleverbridge.

    This means:
    • 21 languages
    • 30 currencies
    • More payment options
    • Credit card payments are no longer handled by PayPal :thumb:
Also resellers and affiliates are getting a much better platform to track their installs.

The old shopping cart was too much oriented towards the Dutch market and did not have many options.

Re: Hitman Pro 3.5.7 hangs on scan

Just got it for the first time and together with the 99% hang, which still happens on occasion, and reported as per the following :

P.S. erikloman, I did send you a PM as per your request, but following subsequent posts, by others concerning the 99% hang problem on XP systems, it seems have to have negated any need for a remote session as requested by you. ;)

    Hi Tarnak,

From your screenshot I can tell you have an internet connection issue (No connection to Scan Cloud). It could be that Hitman Pro is being stalled by firewall or some AV setting. What firewall and AV software are you using?

Does Hitman Pro have full access to the internet? It communicates on port 80 HTTP and 443 HTTPS with the cloud.

I found two possible false positives with Hitman Pro. I copied where they are located from the log. I also checked out the two files on virustotal and it comes up clean with the only exception of Prevx which marks them as medium risk malware. The two programs I downloaded are Abiword Portable and VLC player portable which I downloaded from portableapps.com.

    1. "Prevx" name="Medium Risk Malware"
    C:\Users\*****\Documents\Abiword Portable\AbiWordPortable\App\AbiWord\plugins\PluginClarisworks.dll

    2. ="Prevx" name="Medium Risk Malware"
    "C:\Users\*****\Downloads\VLCPortable\App\vlc\plugins\libdirac_plugin.dll"

How does the Hitman Pro licensing work? Is it like a normal software 30 day trial? Does a licensed Hitman Pro offer any "Active" protection? I see where some people are using Hitman Pro for a one time Malware cleaning operation for infected PC's for free.

    Thanks in Advance.

HMP's unregistered version provides for unlimited free scanning but you have to purchase a license to remove Malware once you have used up your free 30 days trial for removal. The trial license doesn't get activated as soon as you "install" it but you will have have to manually activate it when you need to remove the bad stuff.Once the free license gets activated, it will remain so for the next 30 days. After that it you will have to buy a license for further removal.

No, it doesn't provide active protection, it is strictly an On-demand scanner.

In theory you could use it for free forever, if you reinstall your Windows every 30 days :D. However I think paying some money is an easier solution to be assured of a great second-opinion malware scanner.

Hello, I have a slight problem. When i right click on a paticular exe file, and choose, scan with HMP, I get the windows security warning " do you want to run this file ?" If I choose any other exe file. I get the UAC " do you want to run HMP, I say yes, and the file is scanned.
Any ideas ? This is a totally legit exe file, that won't scan, and is 26mb
    Any ideas, cheers

    Announcing Hitman Pro 3.5.8 build 118 (x86/x64)

    Change log
    • Added ability to change values in raw registry hives (bypassing Windows APIs).
    • Improved the removal of rootkit drivers that are set to start at boot.
    • Improved scan speed (5-15% on traditional hard disks).
    • Added ability to repair an invalid security zone. An invalid zone prohibits running ActiveX controls on for example the Microsoft Management Console.
    • Added ability to repair the NoFolderOptions policy.
    • Changed the default "Delete" action label on infected critical system files into "Replace". The old text confused some users. Please note that Hitman Pro never deletes critical system files or the master boot record. By design, Hitman Pro REPLACES (when available) infected files or code with verified clean safe versions and data. If no replacement can be found the threat remains to maintain system stability.
    • Changed the "Do not delete" action label into "Ignore".
    • Fixed a bug where the command line arguments did not propagate after an update. This could result in the Hitman Pro window to appear while scanning silently.
    • Removed the AV Ballot window.
    • Added Buy Now button on Free/Trial license.
    • Updated End-User License Agreement (EULA)

    x86 - http://dl.surfright.nl/HitmanPro35beta.exe
    x64 - http://dl.surfright.nl/HitmanPro35beta_x64.exe

Please report any problems you may find. Thank you :thumb:

It is by design that Windows shows an UAC message when starting Hitman Pro. Hitman Pro requires Administrator privileges to detect and remove rootkits (fight malware at the same security level). A right-click-scan also triggers Hitman Pro to start in order to scan the right-clicked file, so hence, the UAC is displayed.

Also Hitman Pro has a limit on the file size of files to be uploaded. Hitman Pro compresses files before uploaded. If the file is still larger than 25MB (after compression) it is skipped.

    Hope this helps.
