To me Panda and F-Secure are the real winners of that particular test. Congrats and Hats-off. :D.

    Thanks. :thumb:

In may 2010 proactive test avast scored 29%, now in november 2010 test avast scored 43%....that's an improvement in my opinion
anyway these proactive test don't mean much to me because in my opinion av should always be updated, so it is very unlikely that a user will browse the web with a 2 months old virus database....if he can browse the web and have access to the internet why wouldn't he update the virus database? :D

But your updated Avast won't detect all malware out there with the latest signatures. Therefore it's important to detect unknown malware (proactive detection) as well :)

Not many. Avast has evolved to becoming somewhat in the nature of a religious order of sorts. ;)

that's true. but for unknown malware there is always sandboxie, hips, common sense etc. no av out there can detect 100% even with super heuristics so there should always be a second layer of defense and common sense:D

I'm giving Panda Cloud a spin at the moment. Apart from it stopped scanning on 95% on Scan my computer, everything seems fine. I'll wait until the free version of Bit defender.br is translated into English before I move on - might be a long wait.

this result is similar to what i expected with few exception:
    * Bitdefender having few fp ( good work !! )

*f -secure scoring very good ( i knew it would score good but it has emerged as top with very low fp and good detection )

    * gdata having low fp ( lol , i still cant believe it )

    rest is all as expected

overall , i think winner would be ESET being best in detection yet one of the fastest security suite
    Congrats !! :)

I do not know, but I guess it will be many :( .
    (November 2009) -> (May 2010) -> (November 2010).....(53% + 5 FP) :thumb: -> (29% + 11 FP) :thumbd: -> (43% + 9 FP) :thumbd:
For a heuristic unstable over time, I do not go unnoticed :( .
I hope Avast improve in this aspect.

Doubt it. How many % of users even read or know about AV-Comapartives test? Less than 1% surely.

For the present you are correct, but their results are being quoted more and more in magazine articles.
