wow a lot of no shows in this one no more avg?? and except for fp's panda topped the total marks... im also a bit dissapointed in avast this time around

 

Very disappointed with MSE's results.It has always excelled in the AV Comparatives' Retrospective/Proactive tests, always in the top five but this time around it went straight to 7th place for pure detection rates.This MSE is going down very quickly man.

 

I don't see how can it go down when it reached Advanced+ rating. As for avast!, it's not that bad. Though in this case the lack of behavior blocker is causing it some damage. This will change with avast! 6.x next year, but from what i can see again only for 32bit systems which is a bit disapointing. Judging from the avast! 5.1 specs...

 

Personally, I look in the field of "Other malware/viruses", because that's where the signatures lack in detection usually. Having a good pro-active protection against these (often fake AVs) is alpha and omega.

It was 1 of only 2 to achieve "very few" FPs
It is FREE and just pipped Symantec in detection rates

seems a pretty good choice to me...and version 2 is just around the corner.

 

Yes, it reached Advanced+ rating because it has so few FPs but when you look at sheer detection rates from the previous AV Comparatives' Retrospective/Proactive Tests it has certainly dipped as well its showing in On Demand comparatives.

Yes, it is still a good choice and when I say it is going down I mean its proactive detection rates in AV comp's Retrospective/Proactive Tests in comparison to its own in the past and not in the comparison of others.

 

You can't compare it like this. The samples are not even the same so you can't expect the same detection rate. The baseline is shifting constantly...

 

Yes, I know that one test isn't a indicative how good or bad an AV is but difference is too much when you compare it to the last AV Comparatives Retrospective/Proactive Test, more than seven percent.Hope they do as well as in the future as they have done in the past.

5 Advanced+ Awards until now, and there are still other tests, including Virus Bulletin. ESET really surprises me.

agreed i like eset but imo way overpriced compared to others you can get FAR cheaper. for me id have to buy 12 lic's + and it would cost me a small fortune for just one year...

Yes, But only if you need to have ESET on ALL of your 12 PC's ?
You could always put ESET on one of them....

 

they are all separate and go with either me or the person using them on the road, so imo they each need individual protection
