There is a UAC prompt whenever I open the GeSWall Console.
Any other suspected problems with UAC?

    Cheers

Does Geswall update from the Console or do you have to download and run the installer?
    Is a clean install better?

Still doesn't work. A Geswall message pops up - need elevated privileges, disable UAC. :doubt:

    Cheers

There is a workaround. (by memory, GeSWall Pro not installed at the moment)

In the GeSWall console list/search the untrusted files. Now you can right click them IN THE CONSOLE and set them trusted.

Will this be fixed in 3.0?

If someone runs GW, does he still need a firewall? If yes, why? If no, why?

Although Geswall does alert you when malware tries to send data out I'm sure having a firewall as well wont hurt at all. :)

Does GW merely "alert" and then allow the outbound connection to proceed?

OR does GW instead BLOCK the outbound and then ask if it's *okay* to allow the connection to proceed?

That option was in the previous version of the GesWall also, i trusted files in that way one year ago.

Tested 2.9.1 version, clean install on XP SP2, all o.k.
Just when worked with application wizard on Microtorrent 2.2 and Power Archiver strange windows popup jump out, i can't remember, but all was fine with the rules and applications after that.

My opinion is that Geswall free is good enough by default options. All I need is to put few programs in the application database with application wizard , set security level to high, and thats it....eventually notifications turn off. And all unwanted automatic drive-by installations on the real system are prevented.

Just i didn't find the answer and tested attack notifications. Are the attack notifications also disabled when are all policy notifications disabled ?

The attack notifications will still alert you if anything is being modified, etc.

GW says something is trying to send confidential information out of a folder and if you want to allow or block with block having a count down timer so if nothing happens on your end it gets auto blocked.

Really liking GesWall. Have it installed on XP laptop and Win7 desktop (both 32bit) along with avast free as a backup scanner. Very light.
