After surfing online for awhile, I lose internet connectivity. I'm forced to restart to regain connectivity. I'm pretty sure the problem lies with NOD32 since changing my AV fixes the problem. Changing the protocol setting doesn't help.
    Any ideas??

    Windows XP Pro, Firefox 3.6.12, NOD32 4.2.67

@siljaline, Thanks for replying. Unfortunately, I've tried different protocol filtering without success.

If renaming the C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\epfwtdir.sys driver in safe mode doesn't make a difference, there's no chance EAV would have any effect on networking.

Just check too see nod is actually doing a scan when the internet effectively dies.
If it is you'll need to disable the scan after update option.

The strange thing is this never happens with the scan on start up so I presume after that the startup scan is only doing a partial one whether or not an update has happened.

Many thanks for this suggestion!!! This fixed my problem and my intuition tells me it could be the cause of problems other users are having.

Yes. Except I am not running this task at all. I unchecked this task and am not setting it to run when CPU is idle. So, when the database signature files update, I am not running a startup system check.

I'm not sure if it is a good thing to disable the start-up task,Thankful, you are putting your machine at risk by disabling the start-up scan You decide what works best for you to suit your situation as I have done for myself.

If I may say, ESET AV is a flexible product and was meant to be, some call it complex, the key is flexibility - use what works best for you without sacrificing security.

When reporting an issue, please always enclose information about installed modules (Help -> About) in addition to the information about OS and version used.

A such: Help > about for EAV Business
How do I copy and paste my sytem information

One would perhaps want to know if the user was using pre-release updates

See my other thread. Nothing to do with pre-releases it's a strange bug with nod which has been around since version came around.

Yes. This is especially frustrating since I've been going back and forth between my ISP and AV trying to determine where the problem lies. Removing the last scheduled task (scan after database update) solves the problem.

I have been losing the net on occasions also, never thought it could be down to NOD.

Where is the option to turn off scan after update? I would like to see if that is what is causing my issues

    Thanks

Under Tools->Scheduler, uncheck the last box.

For those that are concerned with this issue as am I, uncheck the last item in your scheduler | planner as Thankful has pointed out.

It has been one week and I have not encountered a loss of internet connectivity with "system startup file check after successful update" checked.
It seems I no longer have this problem. Is anyone still experiencing this problem?
    Thanks.
I do not have pre-release updates enabled.

    Thankful,

I've been experiencing this problem very recently as well. Although, it only happens to my wireless connections, not the wired ones. I have the latest version of ESET EAV installed [4.2.67.10] on Windows 7 Pro using the native Windows Firewall but I did also enable pre-release updates which might [or might not] be the culprit or my dropped wireless connections.

Indeed, it happens once I boot-up the laptop and EAV updates its virus database and performs a start-up computer scan. When I fire up my browser [Firefox 4.0 beta 8], it stalls trying to open my home page [Google.com]. I then try to open another browser [IE 8] to no avail.

To get connection again, I have to unplug the Verizon wireless router for a few seconds and plug it back in and also have to reboot the laptop. Afterwards, everything works fine. It never happened before, and I haven't installed any security applications at all other than NOD32 nor have I modified my current laptop set-up in several months.

I'm just wondering what could be causing this problem.

Not had a problem since disabling scan after an update.
Zyrtec try the fix that's discussed in the thread.
Surprised Eset haven't looked into fixing the bug.
