Nod32/ESET SS - Prevx compatibility question

Need lots of good advice and this is the Best Place

The thing is I am confused and want clarification before I proceed because whenever I submit a Support Ticket to ESET with my questions on such matters I get a very "guarded" answer - that is if I get one at all. Surprisingly and woefully ESET is no help at all, much to my chagrin. So please, one and all, advise, reply, tell me your experiences, etc. I must get the Yea or Nay before I sell a pint or 2 of blood to purchase this.

Is ESET SS ver.4.2 compatible with paid Prevx 3.0 with SafeOnline and the works? Or do they clash? I hear such wonderful things here all the time about Prevx and I would like the extra protection as those who know me hear will attest I've had more than my fair share of woes. Good Lawd willing, this may help. I am not interested in the free on demand one. I already have that now along with Hitman Pro, Malwarebytes and Hitman Pro.

Not so long ago, maybe a year or so, I was in contact with ESET and had the paid version of Malwarebytes running along with ESET because I saw many in here doing the same thing with absolutely no problems at all although most (like myself now) run the free one on demand. Right off the bad, they told me not to have it running all the time with ESET and to just use it on demand if and when I think I have a problem. And that the ESET SS was protecting me just fine (more or less). (That cost me mucho dinero and I'm still smarting from that, LOL. ) Which leads me to thinking that if I was to ask ESET directly again my question about this highly touted paid Prevx with SafeOnline and all the other goodies, I'd most likely get the same exact "guarded" reply. I can sort of understand why too. They don't want to commit themselves one way or the other and take on the responsibility even though they most certainly do know the answer.

I have these 2 soldiers NOD32 v4 and PrevX 3.0 (full payd) for long time on 2 machines XP and Win7 with zero issues (no slow-downs, no conflicts, updates working perfect). It's even borring, I didn't have any attacks, viruses, spywares other than cockies.

That's good to know. Thank you very much. Are you behind a Nat device, perhaps a router? I see you are using just Nod 32 + Windows FW.

"Boring", eh? That is funny. Personally, I find it rather over-priced but that is just my humble opinion. I pray that if I can purchase it, that configuring it is idiotproof. Read: Very user-friendly. Maybe it will be like ESET SSS - set EVERYTHING to Default.

Using this paid version alongside ESET SSS won't be running 2 anti-virus programs, will it? Because my understanding is that it is everything EXCEPT an anti-virus program and that is why people in here praise it to the high heavens and so many use it. Am I understanding all this correctly?

What do we do about that guys? What's the solution to that problem?

I would say have another on demand scanner such as MBAM or SuperAntiSpyware to run a scan after Prevx and that should clean up anything Prevx missed if you are worried about Prevx cleanup ability.

 

You'd be better off asking this question in the Prevx forum, as they are the ones that market their product as being compatible with other anti-malware apps.

 

I've used both ESET Smart Security 4.2 and NOD32 4.2 alongside Prevx 3.0 with SafeOnline (paid) with absolutely no problems at all. (I'm currently using NOD32 because I don't need the full suite.) Prevx has been designed to be compatible with other security software running in real-time.

You will be fine with default settings in both applications, with one exception. ESET's real-time antivirus protection is set to scan on File open as a default setting. I suggest disabling that setting otherwise Prevx scheduled scans will slow down horribly because of a conflict with ESET trying to access the files at the same time as Prevx. You won't be losing much because files will still get scanned by the ESET antivirus whenever they are created or executed, which is what really matters.

Last important question for Prevx users in this ESET forum?

Do you find that running the 2 programs slows down your computer at all? Somewhat? Not much? Significantly?

I'm lightning fast on the `puter and really would like to know is all.

 

I have no slowdowns on my other machines so far (using both NOD32 and Prevx on a Netbook machine and a single-core machine).

They're both light IMHO.

I've never noticed any slowdown. Both programs run very light on my Windows XP system.

 

Me either on my XP Pro 32bit Desktop in which I still use NOD32 AV & Prevx with SafeOnline!

Triple Helix has asked you for some further information which you will need to supply so that the investigation into your problems can proceed.

I've never heard of Prevx causing the kind of problems you are experiencing so it's likely that there is some other factor involved which hopefully the information he has asked you to supply will help to pinpoint.

I've become interested in this thread too. In the last 12 hours two of our laptops have been hit by scumware, and ESET (up to date) let it through without flinching.

We currently ONLY use NOD32, but clearly it's inadequate at blocking malware. Should we be running PrevX too?

Most of our users aren't "technically literate" (aka: clueless) so they need to be protected from themselves.

Any thoughts?

Give the free Facebook version a try it comes with the full version of SafeOnline and full detection but will only remove Adware and the MBR Rootkit for free it would need a full license to remove the any other type of malware! http://www.prevx.com/safebook.asp and http://www.prevx.com/ and more info over at the Prevx forums!
