Yes, looks like a 95%, 95% and then like an 97% where some others that showed like 97% or so dropped into the high 80's. I think Avast did just fine. Sure there is room for improvement but they seem to always be right around that 95 - 96% detection rate range. I truly question the tests though as I have used AVG Pro and don't feel it was nearly as good as these test show it to be.

I love their test environment qualification

current market share XP is 70%
current IE7 market share 15%, IE6 market share 5% (only in China it is over 50%), allthough market shares show conflicting numbers, the browser choice is dubious.

I switched from Kaspersky to AVG IS recently, I feel as if its removal and detection has gone up lately. I can't explain why but it just seems to be better, just like when Norton got better for no reason. I think they are just doing a better job lately.

It would be very interesting to see a sort of "what-if analysis" included sometime. For example using my antivirus program ESET, but instead of using IE7, XP3 and ESET. Use W7 64-bit, IE9, all programs the very latest version (also Reader 10).

Thanks, I am going to bookmark that page. I am a little surprised at India, although I am not sure why considering the number of engineers and MDs I see here in the US.

    Regards,
    Jerry

You are correct. In some African countries, more than a third of the population are connected to the Internet. For the continent as a whole, 10.9% are connected. Africa makes up 5.6% of the world's Internet users. Nigeria alone makes up 2.2% of the world's users, ranking 10th among the world's countries.

(This thread has gone seriously off topic, hasn't it?)

Why are you ignoring Norton? In this test F-Secure and Norton are at the top with Norton allowing the least compromises. In the last test Norton and Kaspersky were at the top.

FS is a fine product indeed. Only mark against it I could think of is that FS has a tendency to slow some machines (but not any of mine :) ).
