Probably because few others are experiencing it. Loading is fast on my Win7 and XP systems. If you move back to OA and the problem is still there it would be worth reposting in the OA forum.

Excellent Page, I`ll remember you at Christmas for all that kindness.

Windows agreeing to be shut down by some covert unknown piece of software ! Pacifist ! "Welcome all Malware". I`ll stick with OA, those Germans/Austrians don`t quit without putting up a fight.

John, did you read my edit? Windows is probably agreeing to be shut down, i.e. it automatically recognizes that a bonafide, legit firewall replacement is trying to install, and it yields to it. So WinFW sees that it is OA that has taken over and turns itself off. It does the same thing with ZA, or any of the others. It is hardly a case of, "some covert unknown piece of software". Unless someone posts here and tells us differently, I doubt that malware can kill it... easily. I was merely wondering aloud. And I posted my own answer.

OA has admin rights so can do what it likes, so just turns the firewall off, leaving the service running. The service can be directly terminated as well if you have admin rights.

New here but thought I'd get in this conversation about Firewalls. I used the Windows Firewall and have tried the Comodo and now the Online Armor firewall. I'm really liking the Online Armor Firewall and think it's a keeper. I just have the free version but I'm really liking it. Easy to configure and if you set it up to run the test on it's own and your system is clean, you won't have any issue's, problems with the Firewall denying your programs. Very nice and easy to use but still powerful. I have it matched with Avast Pro 5.0 and I use Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware on occasion to keep things clean!

WinFirewall + Win7Firewall Control. I used Outpost Pro and Comodo to specify IPs, DNS, ports, until I realised, that allow out is good enough for a trusted app.
