ERA service not starting

Hi All,

remote administrator service will not start. Where do i start to diganose the problem?

 

I think I had this once, it was cause of another application also using one of the ports ERA uses. (2221/2222) Im not sure where I gathered that information last time but this may be the same problem. After a coffee I could me of more use.

 

Is there something in the Windows event log?

 

No nothing in system or application.

 

check era.log in this location.
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ESET\ESET Remote Administrator\Server\logs

not really sure what to do from here, that file is there.

 

That does sound like a possible port conflict as Brambb said.

Try a netstat -b to see which process (if any) is using port 2222

 

Are you using MS Access as your database? How big is the era.mdb? I know there is a 2GB (If I remember correctly) filesize limit for MS Access.

Which ports does ESET Remote Administrator use?

You could run Process monitor, restart the ERAS service and then check the log for operations related to era.mdb to make sure there are no problems accessing the db.
