i must say what a lot of fascinating posts

Then type geo. (something)...you'll see it pop up, and just right click and choose toggle from "true" to "false", picked this up along the way .thanks!

now i read a lot about Google some here posting as to there snooping,longing ,following and so on..well i don't know perhaps,but wonder what thy do with all the ips and if so the owners that use a given ip..thy so call keep? must have some data base .then to get away from them change it? every now and then..
any how my ask is what do you think about this engen?

For me, the issue with "privacy safe" search engines isn't questioning their trustworthyness, it's the simple fact that they are no where near as good as Google or Bing when it comes to searching. Which is why I keep falling back to Scroogle.

 

Id also recommend https://duckduckgo.com/ and http://www.yauba.com/ neither of which keep any logs either between these 2 and ixquick you should be able to easily go google free.

If you use https for the search engine like https://www.ixquick.com/ can your ISP see what you are searching for?

 

unless they have the ability to break the SSL encryption they should not. but then they might if you use a plain http link from the search results, that if you are not using a VPN service

 

That didn't automatically come up as https for me. But if you add https Everywhere it should come up automatically. I always look for the blue icon in the address bar.



I quit using that addon because it prevents the cached option from highlighting my search terms. I hate that!

So while your ISP should not be able to see your search terms, they *will* be able to see any of the links that you click on from within your search.

 

So to stop them from them being able to see the links you click is use something like TOR or use a VPN service.

I tried that once. It was slow as Hell and when I logged into my gmail account gmail showed my real IP. I would not trust their proxy with a ten foot pole.

 

what is the thinking on this as one can set this to the start page.
then past this to Firefox..is this secure .and filtering ?
i am just trying to work this out.

Yes it is slower through them, but at least it is HTTPS.

Well i wouldn't use it for anything private like email etc either, just searches.
