Good Evening ! Have been in touch with a Mr. Ed Johnson Gen Mgr of G-Data Software located in Durham North Carolina..their New Website will be up the first of December and they'll also be on Facebook and Twitter. As an intro offer you'll be able to download the 25th Anniversary offer...Pay for 12 months and get 25 months. But most important they will have their own Call Center with American Speaking Customer Service Reps. I accidentally found the new G-Data trying to resolve a license refund issue. Msr.Johnson got back to me Promptly and Courteously. From I never thought I'd see the Day Files...the Unbelievable has happened...an Actual American based Office and Call Center. Still shaking my head...in disbelief. Sincerely...Securon

Now they may be a viable solution for some of us.
Does anybody know if GData gets along with Sandboxie?
    Thanks.

Good Morning ! Good question Hugger...since I personally haven't used G-Data with a Sandboxing application...I can't provide you with an answer. But at the moment I'm currently using Avast 5.0 Internet Security Suite with Virtualization and Sandboxing...so I can't see why G-Data can't engineer a similar application in future releases. Now having said that when G-Data opens their new Web-Site and Call Centre,at that time I would imagine that their new personnel will have been fully schooled as to what or what not is compatible with G-Data products. But as I mentioned before it's a Quantum leap that they have invested in American Personnel to take care of business for the N.American Market,a very encouraging sign. Sincerely...Securon

Good Morning ! Macstorm are you referring to the sheer size of the program and it's resource intensive nature ? Because when I recently used it,when it was installed and running...strangely it ran fairly quickly as opposed to past versions.I know you also have used it, what was there about it...that you felt needed to be improved upon ? Sincerely...Securon

With the 2 engines enabled I agree.

Unlike in Trustport, where when the two engines are running, it still runs as light as a feather.

I also like GDATA and I hope the upcoming 25 months offer will not need activation within 30 days or so after purchase as in previous offers. Last time I took a similar offer before my current license would expire I did not know the new license would start counting its days so soon.

Hi, gdata gets along well with sandboxie on my win xp.

    Hi Securon & Blackcat,

I'm always a fan of GData AV since its 2004 version (back in the days of the dual Kaspersky & BitDefender engines) but it was not until 2006 that I started to get anual subscriptions for the program. I am very familiar with the antivirus version and I think they actually are improving the program's performance more and more every year, this is a fact. As for your question, by performance I mean the "heaviness" of the product under general computer usage: I feel a bit of drag when I perform certain tasks, for example when switching between windows or while copying, ripping and burning files to media (I don't like disabling the realtime protection). I'm not saying it's an unacceptable delay by any means, however it's somewhat noticeable and it's there, compared to the lighter Avira AntiVir Premium for example. Nevertheless, I keep the faith on them and still hold subscription to GData, waiting for improvements. Other than that, I like it a bunch and indeed I would be using it now if Avira didn't exist.

    Thank you.
