Webroot Acquires Prevx

As I implied in my post back on page 2 my big concern is whether Prevx will remain a stand alone setup for us to use or will it go the way of BOClean and Ewido. Prevx right now is far superior to anything Webroot has to offer. With my license up for renewal in two months I just don't know if I am at all comfy with splurging on this til we get some clear answers..

 

Is it perhaps time to drop the snide remarks towards the Prevx employees here on Wilders and the OMGOMGOMG posts?

Besides the comments out of sincere concern, this thread is becoming somewhat obnoxious imao.

 

I personally think Prevx stands more of a chance to survive the ages under a new umbrella then the other 2 u mentioned but perhaps the dream will end for us in a few years. For now it seems Prevx is well regarded by Webroot so just maybe they gonna want to improve the baby instead of destroyin it but yet again time will tell. Lets enjoy it while we still can.

 

Theres nuttin wrong with a big buck, by all means let them flourish as long as they keep giving back to their supporters/donators like theyve always done. Prevx is great partially due to the feedback from Wilder's n Castlecop's former community imo.

I do hope you are right. Prevx is a well known and well established tool with a strong following and almost unmatched customer support. All that and they have a really cool Avatar...

 

I don't understand WebRoot/Prevx.
I have been surfing various forums, without exception, most posts predict the demise of Prevx and a dislike or a distrust of Webroot.
Especially at Wilders, Prevx's official forum.
In todays world, if you wanted to find out about a product, you would do a quick search with your favorite search-engine.
You would certainty be directed to this forum, after reading all of this, would you choose either product to protect your system
No press release, no official response, you are fueling uncertainty and without any doubt damaging your credibility.
Get off your backsides and give us some official response, or is this just asking to much

An official response means accountability of some sort, the moderators as such are not accountable.

I have quoted the above by the(former)CEO, of another company, who posted the above in a Wilders thread, back in 2008.


Perhaps Webroot, should take a leaf out of someone's book, and end this constant speculation... just a thought!

Back in the old days, I used to buy the maximum license period for my security product with full confidence. You never know what's happening these days. when my current subscriptions expire I am sticking MSE on here and forgetting all this 3rd party stuff.

I have gradually convinced myself to stick with Prevx. If Webroot was smart enough to buy Prevx, then they are *probably* smart enough not to screw it up &/or assimilate it into the Borg.

Cool...I am sticking with Prevx until I see Webroot 'screw up' this most excellent of applications...and hoping that they do not.

IMHO they will NEVER convert everyone out there to use the Webroot product set even if they integrate Prevx technology into it...and there is no doubt a ready made revenue stream based on a standalone product (hopefully including Prevx 4.0)...let's hope they have, and if not then will, understand that and act accordingly.

I have heard that if you take the web off first, the roots are pretty good.
