I'm having problems on our Exchange 2010 servers where calendars are freezing users Outlook clients and I've been trying to isolate the cause.

I've decided to try and install the latest version of EMSX but the upgrade fails as the current version cannot be uninstalled. Apparently the current version - 4.2.10016 cannot detect that I have Exchange 2010 SP1 installed and simply fails with "Microsoft Exchange Server is not installed. Please install one of the supported mail servers first...".

I've tried following this - http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN2411 but it doesn't work.

How can I get EMSX uninstalled?

    Thanks

I have used the uninstaller before, but wasn't sure if it should be used on the Mail Security version of ESET?

At the bottom of the KB article:

    ----
    What's new in version 4.0.14 ?

    - NOD32 v2 support
    - NOD32 v2 for Exchange support (XMON)
    - Windows NT4.0 server support (v2) - no Safe Mode, running uninstaller.exe must be followed by a system restart for the changes to apply
    - ESET Uninstaller can be run from network share
    - ESET Mail Security v4 support (MS Exchange 2003/2007)
    - Windows 7 & ESET NOD32 Antivirus - NIC do not need to be reinstalled
    - automatic detection of ESET product(s) installed (running ESETUninstaller.exe without a /product switch)
    - use this switch to uninstall a specific product version: /product=nodv34 (ESS, EAV versions 3.x and 4.x; EMSX) or /product=nodv2 (version 2.7)
    - replacing the /product switch with the /force switch uninstalls all installed products
    ----

So yes you can use it for ESET Mail security. But you could also try to do a upgrade of ESET Mail Security and see if the problems are still there. And if so then try to uninstall the latest version.

    Hi,

The first paragraph also lists the supported products.

"The techniques below apply to both version 4.x and version 3.0 of your ESET security product, NOD32 v2, and EMSX (ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Server)."
