Is anyone running AdThwart successfully with Chromium? Not Chrome, Chromium. I cannot get the icon to appear, nor won't it keep any of the settings I apply. I can make Adblock icon appear, but it also won't keep the settings. Any tips?
No problem here with Chromium 9.0.566.0 (64055). Of course under Options General you need to tick "Show icon in address bar"
That's what I did. But, it won't appear. Nor will any of other settings I apply remain active. Could it be that it will only show icon, etc when first creating/downloading the filter lists? Doesn't make much sense, though. I can get Adblock icon to appear (using the other extension from same developer allowing it to appear), but it also won't retain its settings. No idea what to do, to be honest. I've tried a few times already, but same happens. WOT appears just fine, for example.
Very odd. For what it's worth under options I have: Filter lists: all unticked Add your own filters: my own Whitelisted domains: a couple General: first two ticked Good luck!
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet or not- Vanilla, cookie white list manager https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/gieohaicffldbmiilohhggbidhephnjj?hl=en http://www.ghacks.net/2010/11/02/improve-chrome-privacy-by-whitelisting-cookies/ trying it now

Well, I just can't get any extension to work with Chromium. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that I don't have profiles stored the standard way And, the extensions all are written to install to the default location? I wonder, because I do see a folder Chromium in %AppData%\Local\
With Chrome, I can have extensions stored anywhere. It doesn't matter. But for Chromium, you can ask here: https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/group/chromium-discuss/topics?gvc=2&pli=1
I have just switched from Mozilla Firefox to Google Chrome. Experience is smooth except high CPU usage (I do not care about RAM usage). My extension list is as following: -RSS Live Links -Vanilla Cookies -Trash Can -NotScripts -Ultimate Chrome Flag -Google Share Button -Ghostery -AdThwart + Google SSL Search
All my extensions work fine - I add, uninstall, disable various extensions at will with no problem. Under XP SP3 they are in folder : C:\Documents and Settings\[User name]\Local Settings\Application Data\Chromium\User Data\Default\Extensions Maybe the Chromium install is corrupted. Try a complete uninstall and start again? PITA I know but something is not right there.
My install isn't corrupted; I download the *.zip version. It would be odd for all of them to be. OK. The normal folder it is created, if you run Chromium the standard way would be %AppData%\Local\Chromium\User Data\Default\Extensions But, since I'm running different profiles, mine goes differently, %AppData%\Local\Chromium\<Profile Name>\Default\Extensions I'm wondering if the extensions look for "User Data", and if it won't find that folder, with that exact name, then they simply won't function, despite the fact they do install It's the only logical explanation I can find. I'll have to give it a try and see.

As far as i know those cookies are stored for the sites you visit, so it are not third party cookies. Also Chrome by default does not has the block 3rd party cookies set. You have to change as I showed. Regards Kees
~ Removed Response to Off Topic Post ~ Anyway, to sort of get back on topic, I have noticed that Google Chrome & SRWare Iron only handle about 10 or 11 extensions before some of them stop working. I guess this is a memory problem.
I wasn't aware of that, still it is not the reason why extensions will fail here. I can't properly run none. They will install and load, but they won't work. For example, WOT installs and loads fine, but it won't get past the activation status. Adblock or AdThwart won't download any subscriptions, nor will they retain any of the settings; AdThwart's icon won't even show; Adblock's icon does, though. It could be due to how I've got my profiles set, because I do see that a Chromium folder is created in %AppData%\Local\. I have my profiles at Desktop. The extensions install properly, but for whatever reason, won't work. I need to see if by having the profile the standard way things work.
Why not it runs better then Firefox and I'm not a fanboy of any browser. The truth is, if Firefox could run as fast as Chrome I'd use it but it doesn't. Where's the prove in this? Come on guys 'Security Forum' here, let's post some SECURITY extensions. Sheesh weather extensions, LOL... Anyhow I didn't notice these being posted; VTchromizer https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/efbjojhplkelaegfbieplglfidafgoka?hl=en AdThwart (Some people complaining 'AdBlock' slowing down Chrome) https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/cfhdojbkjhnklbpkdaibdccddilifddb?hl=en
It seems to have happened with the last two releases. I couldn't understand why some of the extensions weren't even appearing in the GUI. I have no idea why you are having the problems you are. Sounds like a good plan.
