Recommend free security setup for new Dell laptop

    Hi,

    I just got as a gift a new Dell laptop (dualcore 2.3, 3gb ram), it comes with win7 64bit home basic and mcafee Internet Security (1 year license).

    Do you recommend to keep mcafee?...if not what will be the best free security setup you use in this system that is light on resources?

    I would reccomend to stay with mcafee. You already have a really strong OS and good suite. So you don't need anything else. At least keep it for a month and see if it fits your needs.

    If you have no special interest for sites that usually carry malware and you run software from known sources, then you're safe with your setup.

    Keep McAfee, and when it expires get a free one.
    As to the best free one look at AV Comparatives, and the threads on this forum.

    AvsB is not pemitted for AVs. Try one or more to see what runs well on your computer.
