Jetico Personal Firewall protects your computer from unwanted hacker's attacks from outside as well as from malicious programs "living" secretly inside your computer's memory and hard drive. Three levels of protection are included: low-level network packets filtering, application-level network events filtering and filtering of user-level process activity. Jetico Personal Firewall checks every packet that comes in or out of your computer.

Using configuration sets for Security Policy you define how your computer is connected to the local network and the whole Internet. Your computer may be completely hidden from any unfriendly attempts to access your hard drive while you are able to access any web sites you want and you decide on which applications are allowed to access Internet and which are not. With Jetico Personal Firewall you feel secure, safe and protected while enjoying all Internet activities.

The Jetico Personal Firewall software allows the user:

    • Protect computer from both inbound hackers' attacks from network as well as from unwished network access attempts performed by malicious software.
    • Choose a pre-defined Security Policy.
    • Edit existing Security Policy.
    • Create own Security Policy (i.e. the firewall rule set configuration).
    • Monitor running applications that access network.
    • Monitor selected/all the network packets as well as selected network events.

    Changes in v.2.1.0.9 | 01-October-2010:

    - Added Jetico Personal Firewall self protection component.
    - Improved system files protection.
    - Corrected process attack module on Windows 7 and Vista systems.

I had practically given up hope on seeing further development on this firewall, so I'm glad to see a couple recent releases. BTW, it's running very well in my Win7 vm :)

Yeah, its good to see JPF development is still alive and kicking. I guess that Nail was just really busy working on another Jetico project - BCWipe Total WipeOut.

I purchased a license last month for JPF and am now using the firewall full time on my main system. I finally replaced the late great CHX-I packet filter. I figured it was finally time to move on since it hasn't been developed in years and won't support IPv6 or Win7 and above in the future. I'm quite happy with the way Jetico has developed through the years and with its focus on improving the stateful packet inspection engine. I'm finally ready to make a home for it on my system, hopefully for a long time to come.

    RIP: Tiny/Kerio v2 and CHX-I. I'll miss you. :'(

1- Does JPF have a HIPS component?

2- JPF used to do pretty good on Matousec, (yuck) but has received very low ratings lately. Why? (Did Jetico folks refuse to pay or what?)

    3- Screenshots please.

P.S. Jetico's animated home page is a PITN. :thumbd:

Yes, quite a powerful one that the user can easily bypass (disable) if only the firewall filtering component is desired.

Matousec might not fully understand how Jetico works, thus he might not correctly know how to block all tests with it. I'm hoping Wilders member sparviero can shed some light on this.

Have to trundle off to work soon, so later today on screenshots.

@anyone running Jetico -- please let me see CPU Time for Jetico after you have had it running for 3 hours or more. (via screenshot of Task Manager, or Process Explorer, or etc)

@wat0114 -- thanks for the answers. (By the way -- are there 113 other wat's somewhere?)

I'm actually run Jetico Full version on Windows Seven x64, it's very strong and light, HIPS works great, youcan also add IPV6 Protocol if you need.

Test it with pcflank and other, all test related to firewall passed.

About the Cpu usage, it's here and for about 10 hours running in optimal mode and Learning period locked.

On mine I have it setup in the rules to bypass the HIPS functionality. I personally can't stand all the popups. I used to think that HIPS was pretty cool when it first came on the scene with System Safety Monitor many moons ago, but the novelty of it quickly wore off with the constant barrage of popups that you have to answer all the time. Personally I'd rather protect my system in other ways that are much less aggravating. Its there if you want to use it and if not fortunetly its easy to bypass.

Matousec ratings are a bunch of BS anyways. I am glad that Jetico scores low in them and has instead focused their attention the past couple of years on more important things. The only way your going to score high in those tests & get recommended is if you are willing to pay for things such as bug reports, re-testing fee's, and form affiliate sales relationships, ect. Then on top of that spend countless months-years programming to try to beat and stay current with each new test that they come out with. With all the different levels they have setup that must be reached and how they keep changing the game all the time its just a big sham in my opinion.

In terms of the CPU usage. I'm running WinXP with a Pentium 4 3ghz processor and the only time I ever see the CPU usage change at all is if I go into JPF settings and change something. But even then the processes combined only use from 1-3% of the CPU. VM size for the two processes is around 8,400k combined. It's a very light and highly configurable firewall.
