The problem is not in main UI. The problem is with the alerts. They are not well written. If they pay me I can translate it. But, considering they never get back at me... lol

Sorry, but AVG 7.5 was nothing to talk about. AVG 2011, even with all the bugs is far better than any previous version. It's just better in any way.

As for the standalone IDP, i'd like it. So i could run avast! + IDP But for now i'm just on AVG... (teh shock )

I've seen RejZor thread over there.
I'm not experiencing problems with it, though. Using Windows 7 here. I'm guessing a problem with XP. (Regarding Linkscanner)

By the way, I used Internet Explorer 8 to verify it. Linkscanner won't show ratings other browsers than IE and Firefox.

Well I was venting about the inability to uninstall AVG from a fresh install of Win XP Pro. It even failed to uninstall after a system restore to a point prior to the installation. In any event I just located the official 2011 (and older) removal tool on their forums, so I will try it on the affected pc in the next day or two.

 

Heh ;-) I was unable to uninstall it on win7 x64 either ;-)
But so far I'm still testing it so doesn't bother me right now ;-)

btw is this from updating it from avg 9 or was this a fresh copy of avg 2011

by the way after installing AVG IS 2011 I got "bin file is missing" any of you have the same?

 

I am getting the BIN error in AVG Free as well...

Confirmed. This is a rarely occurring issue on the AVG side.

A few hours ago, I performed a successful "Update from folder..." with Iavi:3184 and LinkScanner:362.

Since then update checks return a "You are currently up-to-date" status.

Edit: Missing file issue resolved: automatically updates to 3185.

 

I too had trouble uninstalling the trial. I left it "removing" for about an hour. Rebooted to a half-installation (see pic).
Fixed for me by re-installing the free version only, via the same downloader/installer (another 114MB), then uninstalling. This seems to have been successful.

 

I downloaded AVG AV Free and manually updated it, and no errors. Do you still experience them?

 

Do AVG has identity protection in their free version coz I just saw in youtube video that they have but their site is saying something different story
