Avast Security

Is this a good program?

 

Avast is really good, be it the free version or the paid. I use Avast 5 Free myself.

Yea it really is a great program.. I keep using Avast! back whenever Im done testing out other AVs lol.. Avast! Free is already good enough..

 

i always find myself back with either avast or norton 2011 after i test anything else. its excellent imo

What happens at the end of the trial for the paid Avast av? Does it change to the freeware version or stop working altogether?

I think the question was about avast! Internet Security and my answer would be yes.

 

Avast Internet Security is an excellent product especially for basic users.
It is very easy to use, configure and is very light on the system.
Of coarse the free version of Avast offers very good protection by itself.

I use Avast Free and have for many years and I never get infections, of coarse I know what to do to avoid malware.
Good Internet knowledge and Avast Free protects me effectively.

But if you need to added features of Avast Internet Security or just want to support their free development, then it is worth the price to buy it.

It is certainly a very good product, a suite is light, beautiful, effective and offer complete protection.

I think it is worth much just buy it anyway as said before the Free version is also strong, see if it will not buy the paid version, use the free version that will not be unprotected.

has anyone tested or seen test results against malware for the sandbox feature in the paid version?

 

I use avast! virtualization for web browsers all the time. The first releases were a bit shaky but now it seems to be doing what it's supposed to.

I'm not sure what you mean by "test results against malware"? Do you mean malware specifically designed to circumvent vitualization?

I've used freeware versions of AV for last several years and this has been the sequence - Avira, MSE, Avast5

Each of these have been fantastic and I only changed when it seemed like the consensus was the product was now better. e.g. when MSE came out it was as good as any commercial AV. Avast5 replaced MSE and so far I have had no issues at all.

You can custom configure settings. From memory, checking "Show tags in the title..." is the only change I've made from default.
