Do you have a backup plan in case you lose your memory?

So, let's say that you are in a car accident and lost your memory. Do you have a backup plan so that your family/spouse would be able to access your password manager or get into your TrueCrypt folders?

What use are those legal documents archived with no possible access?

Have y'all "scripted" responses to various fates? Let's say that you disappear. Perhaps someone saw a black SUV, or perhaps not. And let's say that there are instructions that become available to your solicitor after you go out of communication. What would you have them do? Would they issue press releases? How would they know what happened to you? Would they hire PIs?

 

I have thought of this from time to time and still don't have a robust solution.
I do one thing that takes care of some of it. I use a formula to create web passwords. All my passwords start with the same character string but then I add a sequence to the end that is based on the website name. If something happened to me my wife knows what the formula is for my passwords.
This doesn't work in cases where passwords are required to be changed at regular intervals. Also, I come across a websites that won't let me use the formula. (too long, too short, not enough special characters, etc...)

 

Mine is pretty simple. I have an encrypted flash drive that is kept in the safe deposit box and my wife and daughter know the password. On that drive is everything, including my entire password portfolio (hundreds) printed out into a pdf file using the "print function" of Roboform PRO. There are other things of importance on the drive as well. I update it regularly.

What do you mean by "password portfolio"?
Do you predefine a few hundred passwords that you rotate through?
About the regular updates, a thumbdrive in a safe deposit box isn't very convenient to update regularly.

 

It's just another way of saying my password collection. I use Roboform PRO and keep them all organized. As for the post office, it's convenient when it's across the street. Whatever works for you. Be creative. I know somebody who has all their passwords written on page 152 (example) of a book on a shelf with hundreds of other books and the wife knows where they are if something happens. I've chosen the flash drive route to include, not just passwords, but all of those "In The Event Of My Death" kind of things. By the way, I keep a mini 1TB hard drive in the same Safe Deposit Box with backups of my files, system images, music, movies, etc. I switch it out about every other week. I have two them that I got during a NewEgg blowout deal.

You know, this is a very good question And not just losing your memory, but any other reason, of which there will be many.

 

I don't want anyone at all to access my TC folder, ever!

 

Should keep a reminder note to go to certain places and listen to songs (will jog my memory indirectly).
