Thanks, it looks nice. I want to use it with MSE and $9.95 USD for one day is a good offer too ( too bad i don't have a paypal account). I am going to test and see how the 'WinPatrol Cloud Edition beta' works with MSE.

Why every security software is integrating cloud in newer versions?
There are both pros and cons.
I will use it offline only.

Thanks for the heads-up! I'm not sure I'll use it because I'm pretty well covered, but I'll buy it to support Bill P and then I'll have it available should I change my mind.

    Thanks again!

I dont know why winpatrol only have a few entries in the registry monitoring, I thought that they will increase the number of important protected keys.

Adding registry keys is easily done in WP Plus.

Yes, unless there is a more automated way to accomplish this which I am not aware of.

Thanks for heads up. Nowadays we can notice a still growing group of software vendors who add to their application so called Security Cloud.
I remember that WP Plus has had very similar ability (information about processes from WP Plus database) but for sure there was no information from Cloud (other users) - only information collected and stored by BillP.

Also nice to see that Bill gives another discount for new users of his product.
I hope it will be no resources hungry (CPU time) new WP.

personally having a completely new version specific for cloud capabilities really isnt worth it, at least i dont feel it is, benefit isnt really that great.

If you have a license, it is for:
I concur. Although i like WP, I'm not convinced that the "cloud" will increase it's efficacy.

Is it cloud only to share Pro info? So it does not require cloud to take automated info. As good as offline...:) But there is no option to share reviews only votes.

To me it is not really a true "cloud" application. All this adds is a user poll of various files checked and it does so by name only. I like WinPatrol and have been using it for about five years now. This latest addition of showing how users "voted" is not really necessary and would be confusing for an inexperienced user. Right now it only shows how many times the file name has been checked against the PLUS database. User interaction/voting will be added overtime as people fill in their votes. A new user could be fooled if someone votes "yes" and the other votes "no" on whether allowing a program to run or not. WinPatrol's original database of "safe", etc. is the best way to go and hopefully will not be removed.

Thanks to everyone for their support and feedback!

"Currently" there are two parts to the first version of WinPatrol Cloud Edition. The focus of what's new is in response to users wanting to know before making a decision on how important a file is. The Cloud data is an addition to what we now provide, some of which could be obtained via an intelligent web search.

There are two parts to the new cloud data. One part is a poll which I've designed to be helpful and will be available to both Free and PLUS users. Those of you who have been around a while will note it's also designed to prevent cease and desist letters in my mailbox.
As time goes by I expect the numbers represented in this poll will be useful. It was important to me that users of the free version get something free and useful.

Part Two is real-time, automated and is based on actions taken by WinPatrol free and PLUS users. At this time you'll see the frequency of requests for info which was a no brainer. Don't be surprised if someday you see this data as a graph.
You'll also find WinPatrol keeping track of how users handle their own decision in real-time. Think of it as WinPatrol's version of Millionaire's "Ask the Audience" benefit. Again as we collect more data this will represent information which can be used to make useful decisions.
In the future you can expect to see more than just a users choice. WinPatrol also reports certain behavior taken by a program when it's newly detected.
Part two information is a bonus only available to PLUS users.

I'm glad many took advantage of the 99 cent experiment but I don't expect another one in the near future. I hope today's $9.95 special will help folks on a budget who still want the full version.

There is no additional cost for the new Cloud Edition. If you're already a PLUS member your code will continue to work. While it may not have been the best business plan, when I said Lifetime, I meant lifetime. ;)

    Thanks again,
    Bill
