    You're welcome!

    In other news, there appears to be a flaw in the current beta when it comes to javascript speed of 32bit vs 64bit.

    Putting 32bit IE9 vs 64bit IE9 against each other on Sunspider gives me the following results.

    32bit: Total: 743.6ms +/- 4.3%
    64bit: Total: 2007.0ms +/- 5.7%
    (lower is better)

    64bit should technically be slightly faster, so I'd guess this is a beta bug. I believe this only affects javascript.

    Using the combination of IE9's SmartScreen & DynDNS malware blocking on 30+ random malware links and nothing got past, very impressive.

    I'm confident that once IE9's download reputation is activated things will really be looking good for ending the use of AV software. All you'd really need to do is have some good policies in place and patch your software.

    I like many things in IE9 beta1, however I have some criticism:

    - I don't like the View favorites in the screen's right side and this isn't customizable;
    - Some very popular sites aren't working as expected. For example: Orkut;
    - I wanted to see a spellchecker built-in;
    - the download manager doesn't show the download speed.

    I hope these issues will get fixed on the next beta, or at least when the final version comes out.

    Hover "Percent complete" that will show download speed.

    EDIT: Typo: however instead of hover xD

    Lol, Microsoft doesn't recognize its own browser. I just started IE9 and I left the default homepage to msn.com, so msn.com loaded and showed me an ad to upgrade to IE8 :p

    The option to email the link to the current web-page using your default email-client is no longer available. Deal-breaker.

    I installed it yesterday in a virtual machine running Microsoft Security Essentials v2 beta, and the Microsoft Antimalware Script Scanner BHO is deactivated and no way to activate it.

    Others like Spybot, which is also installed in the virtual machine, has no issues.

    Yes, me too. Google did manage to make a very simple and usable UI, and something my eyes do like looking at. Unfortunately, to my eyes, IE9 UI doesn't look that great. It feels odd. Maybe, I got used to how IE8 was, even though never using it that much, and also used to Chromium UI, which makes it hard to accept IE9 UI right away.

    Really? I'd call Chrome and IE9 pretty similar in terms of UI. I don't think the MSE BHO has been updated for IE9 yet, like most companies that don't update until a product is out of beta.

    On another note, a new developer version (no GUI) of IE9 was released that has several engine improvements and additions. You can expect to see this good stuff in IE9 Beta 2 which I'm betting will be released during the 2nd week of November.

    The graph clearly displays the continued progress of the IE9 dev team, to the point where these 4 browsers are near enough the same for speed.

    There will be no Beta 2, the next milestone for the IE9 project is the Release Candidate. As you can see in the final of the post on the IE Blog:

    Want take a bet?

    Chrome will kill the scope of hardware acceleration with Chrome8, most likely scenarion. They launch the same day, with benchmarks proofing Chrome is faster, stealing media attention with the cost of just a few benchmark movies and some flashvertisements.

    I first though that they were pushing to launch 8 before IE9, but they won't. They will get much more media attention when launching 2 to 4 hours after IE9 final. two hours would be ideal because M$ timing will take US networks news prime time into account. To give networks sufficient time, you normally launch after lunch east coast time. This way it will cascade through the Americas, Asia and Europe & Africa following the sun. So when you want to steal the scope, you have two hours max.

    I much rather enjoy Chromium with the tabs above the address bar, and not side by side. With Chromium, I can have as many as 8 tabs open at the same time, while still being able to read the title of each enough to know what each is what.

    With IE9, 4-5. I'd much rather enjoy having the tabs either at the top or below the address bar, not side by side. The way it happens with Chromium, which are on top. Same applies to IE8 (but in this case what's side by side are the Home Page icon, Security and Tools menus.).

    I totally agree, fortunately or unfortunately, this functionality is in IE9 as alpha quality. In other words, it basically breaks everything if you turn it on. I've seen screenshots of people doing it but I believe it is a registry tweak.

    I was hoping that a 2nd beta would come to further test this, maybe they've perfected it already in RC1. I am however hoping they didn't abandon the idea, time will tell.
