Confusion - Update to B&R 10

Hi,

I have had B&R 10 since Sept, 2009, and it's installer is this file: Paragon-140-PRE_WinInstallSN_10.0.10.10505_000.msi

I just notice the update, which is this file: Paragon-140-PRE_WinInstallSNU_10.0.11.11844_002.msi

I assume SNU in the latter means an update. When I ran the latter yesterday, I got a Windows installer choice of "install" or "repair" or "uninstall." I chose "install," but then the Paragon installer window opened up with the choice of "Modify, Repair or Remove," not "Install." I chose "Repair," thinking that would be the upgrade process. However, when I finished, the B&R <help-about> gave me the same product version as the original version. I.e., Version 10, build 9105 (18.11.09). So I don't understand what the value of the update was. Can anyone help?

In the original version, I learned like other that the "System Backup" feature really wasn't useful, since it limits user choices greatly. It is far better to use the Smart Backup feature, since it is much more flexible. I recently (with my original version) used the installer to try to remove the System Backup feature - and it removed the entire suite! So I had to re-install it.

Again, what does the update fix? And why didn't the <help-about> version number change after the update?

New version has some bug fixing and updates.

To install new version, uninstall old version first. Oncce compelted, restart your PC.
Then install the new version and restart once again.

Repair doesn't allow to get updated version, taht's why About shows the same info.

 

Hi Mech An. I did what you suggested - that did the trick! Thank you. The program version number is now that of the new one. During the installation, I did NOT choose the automated backup option (with I think refers to the System Backup component). But when I ran the newly installed version, the Smart Backup option is still there, which is the one I use most. I appreciate your help here!
