hi, i've just purchased a 3-computer license (Smart Security). entering the username and password went splendidly, but when i want to check the license expiration date (via the Help/Verify license validity in the program main menu) the following note appears (in a separate window):

"License could not be verified. Please enable access to the expiration database server exp02.eset.com"

could anyone tell me what's wrong? i've only activated the product only on one computer.

    maybe i'm doing something wrong.

    Hi

My licence expiry date is no longer showing now. I'm using NOD32, which I renewed a while ago. Also get same message.

I'm also getting the same problem. I'm guessing the license server is down?

well, like i said, i must have been doing something wrong...

the reason could be that i was using business version trial (did not notice it at downloading), and i've got the home license key, so that could have caused the problem. i've just reinstalled the home version, but it still does not check for the license validity (this time it says something like "could not verify, try again later"). well, we'll see later. will post an update :D

You did not do anything wrong, like I said, I was experiencing the same issue myself. As of right now, the license verification option is working correctly again. There was probably a problem with the license server which prevented ESET from communicating with it.

    Regards

    hm...

i activated the second license a couple of hours ago on my laptop. it's a 64 bit version (Windows 7, 64 bit). the license check on my computer now works, but not on my laptop (my desktop runs Vista, 32 bit). i don't know...

tomorrow afternoon i'm going to activate the third license (my daughter's computer, XP, 32 bit), and we'll see what happens.

    Hi

Verify licence validity worked a while ago and the date reappeared on my NOD32. But now it's disappeared again and when I click on verify licence the same error message pops up as before.

    Hello,

I have tried verifying license validity several times today since I saw the original message thread and not been able to reproduce the issue.

It could be something intermittent that I have just not been able to catch when looking for it, but another possibility is that there might be a routing issue somewhere between your network connections and the exp02.eset.com server.

Here are the result of a ping I ran from ESET's San Diego office to Bratislava over a public (not VPNed) Internet connection:
    > ping exp02.eset.com
Pinging exp02.eset.com [93.184.71.26] with 32 bytes of data:
    Reply from 93.184.71.26: bytes=32 time=184ms TTL=45
    Reply from 93.184.71.26: bytes=32 time=184ms TTL=45
    Reply from 93.184.71.26: bytes=32 time=184ms TTL=45
    Reply from 93.184.71.26: bytes=32 time=184ms TTL=45

    Ping statistics for 93.184.71.26:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 184ms, Maximum = 184ms, Average = 184ms

A traceroute was similarly unrevealing, so that is why I suspect a network routing issue as opposed to a problem at ESET's end. Carriers are generally pretty responsive to such things, so if that is indeed the issue, it should be resolved shortly.

It does seem to be an issue with exp02.eset.com
I'm able to ping the server and no network events are blocked. So I checked connection details. SYN_SENT to exp02.eset.com, but no response from exp02.eset.com (SYN_ACK) meaning no established connection.

i've activated all three licenses today, and now it works. when i click the "license check" a small window pops up with the license details. so it must have been something temporary. thanx to all you guys for your time trying to help me. appreciated a lot.

    Hello,

It looks like there was a small intermittent issue, that has since been addressed. If anyone experiences a problem in the future with verifying license validity, please let us know.

    Hi

"Licence valid until" date disappeared from my NOD32 window again. Clicked on Verify licence and it now shows. Still an intermittent issue.

I also have a similar issue with version 4.2.40.0 with the verify license validity button not working. I click on it and nothing happens. I can ping exp02.eset.com so it is not a connection issue. However, I was able to change my license details from the Update --> Username and Password screens. My new license details appear to have been accepted according to the Help --> About screens. My new expiration date is now shown.

    OS. Details
    Microsoft XP (32-bit)
    Version 5.1.2600 service pack 3
    With .NET Framework 4 installed
