One way to tell is if you look at your email and you look at the bottom. Do you see the message of email scan varification by NOD?

You'll need to enable SSL checking in order to scan encrypted email on port 995.

Click on the tray icon, open window, press F5 for advanced setup, and see the screenshot.

Have you adjusted your email client software to compensate for these changes ? Your installed ESET software build is ? Your email client software is ? Your operating system is ?

That picture is from Outlook. What mail client are you using?

Under Windows 7, the native email client, I believe, is Windows Live Mail.
The fields should be similar. I have no further suggestions at this time.

My bad. It's sooooooo long since I looked at XP, and even longer since I looked at Outlook Express :).

But it's moot. I think anderb was looking for those settings in the ESET window, since he/she mentioned the ESET and Windows versions but no clues as to what email client was being used.

No worries, Jim still hanging on to XP as are many.
What I find puzzling among others is why an ISP would go to SSL email across-the-board ? Unless we know what email client is being used, the thread can't move forward further than it has, unfortunately.

The fact that you are using Incredimail speaks volumes as to what your issue may be :ouch:
Good luck with Avira, There are no known uninstallers for Incredimail, btw, Add/Remove Programs & hope for the best.

I recall uninstalling Incredimail from a computer (not mine) and I used Add or Remove at the time. I don't know how well RevoUninstaller would work at cleaning up registry debris for Incredimail.

I was able to recover an XP Home SP3 machine from Incredimail recently reverting to Outlook Express as the default email handler without too much issue. While I'm not keen on third-party uninstallers save HijackThis (but, we won't go there) was not required to take further action than Add/Remove, * Appreciate your comments.

I got along for years without anything like RevoUninstaller, and I've never used it to uninstall any antivirus software (and I never would do so). I have used it to uninstall other software since someone recommended it in a forum, and I have not seen it cause any problems, but it's not an anti-malware tool.

While we all have our favorite tools in our war chest, I use and continue to use Microsoft's Windows Installer Cleanup sited here. MS has discontinued the availability of the stand-alone tool, as the article indicates.

    Appreciate your comments and regards,

I have the Windows Installer Cleanup, as a matter of fact, though I admit I have not used it. I checked and I installed it a little over a year ago, just in case I needed it, I guess. I think that after I installed it, the warning about possibly damaging Windows components made me reluctant to use it. ;)

I use it only for pesky uninstall issues on my machine and others, otherwise, I do not use it as you mentioned, it can damage other Windows components.
