Anyone Grey Listing?

Is anyone here using the grey Listing feature in the latest EMSX? How is it working out? It looks like a nice concept.

ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Server (EMSX).

But, uh, yeah.......

 

I'm not a EMSX user (though I plan to demo it soon), so I cannot speak for ESET's implementation. It's simple enough that it's hard to get wrong.

I do know that greylisting, as a concept, is something I always enable on edge mail exchangers. As long as the retry timeouts are sane (accepting mail after a 1 minute retry timeout cuts out darkmailer and most other spamware I've "dealt with" fairly well). As a real-world case, one domain I was working on went from circa 30,000 spam/day to circa 1,000, with nothing more than greylisting enabled

I've also found it helpful in the past to compare the effectiveness of "mail security" products from vendors like ESET, who have traditionally authored anti-malware rather than email filtration, with bleeding-edge spam-hating products like ASSP (OSS, implemented in Perl).
