Its also unchecked by default. The ONLY way it would install is if you personally wanted it and checked it for installation.

I agree but it does not stop me from disliking ASK as most of the security community does!

Has anyone any clues as to why they might label Sunbelt's Vipre as incompatible?

I am running latest Vipre and latest Immunet Free together in XP SP3 laptop. I haven't had any issues (yet) :)

hmm... they should add CA products too because CA asks to uninstall Immunet during installation...

Just remembered a funny thing. Ikarus identifies Virustotal Uploader as a conflicting AV..:p

I've tested the two alongside each other and the only issue I notice is that VIPRE's CPU usage will get a bit high when you run a scan with Immunet if you have VIPRE's on-access scanning enabled because VIPRE would be scanning any files Immunet is accessing during it's scan. To resolve this problem you can disable the "Check files when they are opened or copied" (on-access) option in VIPRE's Active Protection settings.

I didn't test this too extensively but I didn't see any other real conflicts or issues. Perhaps Immunet has run into other problems with customers.

    * Banner not refreshing
    * IPTray crash on delete/restore from Quarantine

    * Upgrade needs to fix permissions for rss and banner

So, that's a good question. Someone from Sunbelt recently mailed us the same question. The answer is, that for most people it seems to run well but we often receive reports that after a few days IMP goes into Offline mode due to a conflict w/ Vipre. How long have you had it running now?

    Nick,

Thanks for that. I will do some testing on my end and see what happens. We do get a lot of users who wish to use the two, I'd like to see it sorted.

    Cheers,

The biggest problem I had running the two together was that Immunet would scan the temp files that VIPRE generates during its own scans. That was awhile ago (1.x Immunet and 3.x VIPRE), so I can't say whether or not that's still the case.

    Thanks.
Comment: with 2.0.14.99, when I was clicking on the "Update" button, it said it was up to date. I think it should have said a new version was available or, better, updated to the new version.
If I had not read your post, I wouldn't have known a new version was in fact available.
Thanks to the Immunet people to get a look at this.
(and BTW, I own a Plus license)

Last week I migrated my Vipre/Immunet laptop to Win7. I'll keep watch for this mentioned offline behaviour.

There was one moment where Immunet claimed it was offline. This was just after installing and entering license. After that it updated itself. During this time I also deselected from Vipre Active Protection settings the On-Access scanning. I decided there was no need to duplicate this process and let Immunet handle that part.

After Immunet had updated itself to pay version I ordered a reboot. After this Immunet was happily online. I have used it during several days now and haven't so far spotted any other offline moments.

Aside from that, I second what mOunds said about Immunet scanning Vipre's temporary files. As Vipre creates them in Windows Temp folder they can't be excluded via the exclusion interface provided by Immunet settings.

Does Immunet use the full ClamAV database or no?

Immunet have its own database but we have every samples ClamAV have because their database is being added to ours hourly.

This version is the smoothest yet. Detection is now on par for this product to be a stand alone app and is actually very good. I am still shocked by the price for 3 computers. A very good deal.

trjam is right. This version installs and runs very smooth. The slowdowns and cpu spikes that were present in previous version are gone. With improvements planned for version 3.0 the future is looking bright too.

This is from the ClamAv for Windows website. Version 3 of Immunet and ClamAv will be the same.

Q4. What are your future integration plans?

A4. The current roadmap includes adding ClamAV 0.96.3 as an additional engine in the ClamAV for Windows 3.0 product. This product will be released in November 2010. This will allow end users to use the more than 750K signatures in the current ClamAV for Unix db, any custom signatures they want to use, or other 3rd party signature repositories. Freshclam will also be included if end users want to use local mirrors or other types of signature repositories.
