I have been trying to install NOD32 on Win XP Pro single user and then NO32 Admin version to Win XP Pro. Installation goes fine, but the system will not finish booting. It hangs right at the point of putting icons on the task bar. You are left with no task bar, no start button. I have tried disabling AMON and IMON. Nothing helps. Does anyone know what the problem is??
If you could disable IMON and AMON, so you could also launch NOD32 scanner. Do a completely scan, with the fittings at maximum. Your alt+ctrl+del works? If yes, launch a new application, command prompt, so you could launch NOD32 in ah mode (....Progra~1\Eset\nod32 /ah). Guaranteed, this kind of scan could take an entire night! Another problem could appear if you register IMON. Try another install of NOD, without IMON. You OS could start completely in safe mode?? If yes, it's easy to scan from this mode. Finally or maybe first of all it's better to ask support@nod32.com
Maybe you could try setting the NOD32 Kernel service to start manually (Control Panel - Admin Tools - Services), reboot the machine and see if the problem goes away. If so, try starting the service manually. If started successfully, go to Start - Programs - Eset and try to launch NOD32 Control Center. Please post the result either here or email it to support.
I've had the same problem with some of my work pc's. It doesn't happen frequent enough for me to trouble shoot. We do automatic updates so I wasn't sure if that was the problem or the anti-virus.
