I've got 3.0 installed on my system and I can't download 3.1 from any of the available sites. The installation phase always stops with the following error message: "An error occurred while trying to replace the esisting file: DeleteFile failed; Code 5. Access is denied."

    So, what do I do?

    Thanks for your help.[/FONT]

Still the same problem : "This program has been damaged, possibly by a bad sector of the hard drive or a virus. Please reinstall it."
I followed the hijackthis procedure indicated before for another purpose without outcome.
    So my question is:
    - is there any way to download the old version (I have deleted it) ?
    - if not is there a substituable freeware availlable ?
Thanks from a spywareblaster orphan !

    Hi,

I'm very close to a solution for this - please hang on, it shouldn't be too much longer. :)

I just downloaded mine and it has files missing ...

I dont think any program that doesnt have a good support team shouldnt be on the net..

This is self help group crap.. no way .. none of you made the program so how would you truely know how it runs ..

Iam going to see if something legal cant be done about this...

The files the are missing are probably those needed to complete the Visual Basic Runtime environment, or a couple files that need properly registration. These are documented on the FAQ page right on the main SpywareBlaster site itself. See this page:

    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/downloadfaq.html

These files are not included in the SpywareBlaster kit as they are available from Microsoft or other places, and they are best pulled directly from them, though Javacool does provide a needed files kit, too.

    Hi,

Depending on the file that you are missing, I'm fairly certain that the answer can be found on this page:

    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/downloadfaq.html

    Best regards,

    -Javacool

P.S. I did indeed make the program.

Guest - I'm sorry, but have you even read these posts here? It is all explained and this is the official support forum, which is backing up this free program.

I do not like the 3.1 version of SpywareBlaster. Version 2.6.1 was MUCH better and did not have the slick commercial fluff GUI that 3.1 does. Not going to complain too very much, as the proggie is a freebie, but I have been using it since version 2 and sadly, recently decided to delete version 3.1, as it was causing certain web sites to hang, or load erratically, which tells me there are still a lot of bugs in this *new* version?!

I also tried and subsequently deleted SpywareGuard, as it has the same problem, in that it always seems to operate very erratically on Win98SE.

I would never upgrade to XP, as it's **Crap/Spy/Mal/Intrusive-ware to the extreme!

Can anyone tell me if Spyware Blaster works with Opera Browser? Or am I wasting my time installing it?

It seems your 98SE system quite possibly has a few problems of which you have not learned. This 98SE system runs just fine with SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard and many other programs running at the same time AND only 50% system resources free even as this is being written! Just let us know your particulars and perhaps someone here can assist. :)

    Be seeing you

    SpywareBlaster 3.1 is fine...

...but it appears a few users need fixing. "Bad programmers belong in jail"...gimme a break. You belong in an asylum for thinking that somebody providing an awesome tool for free should be jailed just because you don't know how to fix your own system's OS problems.

I do have a question, though. In a previous thread, instructions were given for downloading manual updates to 2.6.1. Well, the download location where those files reside now contains some compressed, encrypted, and/or corrupted files.

Where can I now get manual updates for 3.1 Our firewall blocks the in-program update, and I've tried all the options in SpywareBlaster.

    Hi,

Just read this thread with some amazement, and not a little horror...

    So:

Javacool, it needs saying: SpywareBlaster is a great FREE programme, and the vast majority of we who use it DO appreciate your fine work on our behalf.

May coffee and programming keep on coming your way...

    best,

    Chris H.

    Re: SpywareBlaster 3.1 and win98se

    Hi:

I d/l and installed SB ver 3.1, restarted my comp, clicked on the SB icon and computer hung. I d/l first patch, restarted comp, clicked on icon and computer hung. I d/l second patch, restarted comp, clicked on icon and you guessed it, computer hung but this time I could end task. I then disabled Norton's personal firewall and anti virus software, clicked on SB icon and again computer hung. Each time SB opened but I got a box with white screen -- No Gui and no error messages. So a box opens with nothing in it and I have to end task.

Only thing I can do now is to uninstall the program unless someone has more suggestions. As I mentioned in the title I am running win98se (on a PentII/400 with 384 RAM).

    Thanx

I haven't seen this problem discussed yet, so I'll lay it out for assistance:

I used 2.6.1 with no problems. I dl 3.1 with no problems. I took the snapshot of my system before I starting monkeying around with it, then made some changes. Restarted the computer, with no problems, but could not access the internet. Clicked on "restore to original settings" button and restarted the computer again, but still no joy. Even though I tried to get back to the original configuration, it didn't work. I installed 3.1 right over top of 2.6.1 without unstalling 2.6.1. I'm using XP, 1.5Gb 512Ram 40M hd cable modem. Now I have uninstalled 3.1, thinking that might cure the problem.

Got any ideas? I will admit I did not give it 13 minutes to work, but I guess I could launch it and then go buy some dog food for my Great Dane. Help!

Doesn't work. That's what I just said...those files pointed to by that thread are corrupt, compressed, or just flat wrong.

The sizes are wrong, they're binary crap (as opposed to text) when looking at them, and it doesn't matter whether one right-clicks and saves or just clicks on the links and saves from there.

    They don't work.

Care to zip up the real files and put a few links on the actual javacool page?

    Mike
