Anyone Tried Jetico Firewall Lately?

I'm looking for a good Windows 7 64 bit firewall with good leak protection. I tried the latest version of outpost, and it seems very bloated now. It froze my computer several times, and i also experienced some BSOD's. Online Armor is my favorite Firewall, but it is still in the beta stage for 64bit. I don't want to use PC's tools firewall. I use to use Jetico Firewall in the past, and it had decent leak protection. Is anyone here using the latest verstion of Jetico Firewall? I would like to know how stable it is for 64 bit? I don't want to deal BSOD's, and freezing. I want a smooth running computer.

 

Not for over a year, and there hasn't been an update since December 2009. If I can get it to install in my VM I'll take a look and let you know. Personally, although I own a license, I'm rapidly losing faith in the product; the lack of development this year and the developer's complete absence from the forum is disturbing.

It worked extremely well for me a few days ago in my Win7x64 VM, but I guess that's how it goes with a lot of these firewalls; they work well for some, poorly for others.

I really wish Eset would do more in developing their firewall, and wouldn't have to find another firewall. Their firewall is just too basic for what i need. I'm going to make several suggestions to them on Eset's thread.

If Jetico Firewall's development has been stagnant since 2009 then i would not think it would be a good choice for a firewall for Windows 7 since if i remember correctly Windows 7 came out in October of 2009. Sure their was alpha, beta, and RC before that, but they couldn't have done much testing on Windows 7 in that kind of time frame.

 

I'm running Outpost Pro 7 with ESET NOD32 AV on Windows 7 64 bit without issue. In fact, I find it to be a stellar combination.

 

The 64-bit version of OnlineArmor is being developed under the Emsisoft banner & should be forthcoming in the near future.

In the meantime, Private Firewall works with 64-bit & is (like OA) a HIPS + FW combination. It's a freebie.

Since shortly after posting last night I've been running latest J2 in my vm, Win7x64, and it's working perfectly so far, even with all application filters enabled, though I prefer to set Indirect access and Process attack filters to "Bypass". Screenshot attached. All I would say is trial it if you're interested but do keep in mind as I mentioned earlier that it at least from my perspective seems to be a product that is given little attention these days by its developer. It is otherwise an excellent 3rd party fw, especially its network filtering capabilities.

 

Thanks for the Reply's! I'm going to try Jetico, and maybe give Outpost 7 a shot again if i'm not satisfied with Jetico. I will have to put it on hold for the moment though because my image backup program is failing me, and not allowing me to restore to any previous images. I use Shadow Protect, and i just started a thread on it Its going to have to wait until i can fix the issue if it can be fixed. I would hope so since i just did a reformat, and redid this machine a week ago. I have everything the way i want it, and i will be really mad to find out that my restore images are useless because Shadow Protect is unable to perform its job.

 

I think you'll like Jetico. It is a very nice firewall that I have used for years. I recently parted company with it due to incompatibility issues with KAV, but that doesn't mean it isn't a nice firewall. I especially liked Jetico's table layout, along with the IP and Application groups. I have to agree with wat0114 regarding the relative silence in the Jetico support forum from the developers.

 

Another one you might want to try is Filseclab

Very light, easy to use, and good reviews from what ive seen
