When I try to view a u-tube video in my browser by pushing the play arrow in either Chrome or Firefox, suddenly my screen looks like it is displaying a wrapping paper design. Vertical stripes of different colors fill the screen. The only way that I can get rid of this is by rebooting my computer. I have an old Dell desktop computer (8 years) and I am running windows XP with 1 gig Ram. I really hope someone can help me with a solution.

Your helpful advice worked like a charm. Many thanks. If anyone else has this problem this is what I did. Performance or display issues with certain Flash videos If you see performance or display issues with certain Flash videos (e.g., high CPU usage, system instability, hangs, white or green screen, no full-screen video, distortion) turn off hardware acceleration in your Flash Player display settings (Right-click on any Flash video, click "Settings", select the Display tab and uncheck “Enable hardware acceleration").
