    Already experienced this with 1 computer. Who knows when they will even get a patch. Shell32 will be very tricky to patch. They screw that up and its time to re-image or reinstall windows from scratch.

    Thanks Erik, beta installed fine for me. Notice 10sec countdown after scan has disappeared, great service from Surfright. :)

    Oops...sorry, didn't realise at first.....in settings HMP won't allow me to check "Protect from LNK vulnerability". Any suggestions, please? Fresh install?

    I'm sure the 64 bitters will be eager to know when HMP will protect them too?

    If it is greyed out then you either already have a non-standard LNK icon handler or you are running without Administrative rights.

    Yes it will. It will not remove the LNK files as it is impossible to distinguish malicious LNK from legitimate LNK files.

    Reinstalled twice over with, unfortunately, the same result. Couldn't find what
    could be causing this, so had to give up. :doubt:

    The checkbox won't enable since you already run the Sophos tool.

    my Hitman pro stable release just auto updated to Build 108 (2010-07-30) here

    Since I have installed Gdata LNK checker that option is greyed.

    If this vulnerability protection had not been added to Hitman Pro, would any body have complained? Was anyone even expecting this fix to be added in Hitman Pro? I don't think so. But the fact that the Hitman Pro team did it, makes me respect them all the more. Hats off Erik. :thumb:

    Found a small glitch - I had build 107 installed. After automatically upgrading to build 108, the version number in Windows 7's 'Uninstall or change a program' module is not updated.

    Mine is still @ 3.5.5.97 (64-bit). So maybe it doesn't update that information, and just used the version which was installed.
