As always you can download it from http://info.prevx.com/download.asp?grab=edgebeta for 32bit and http://info.prevx.com/download.asp?grab=edgebeta64 for 64bit installation or if you have the Beta/RC installed you can update via the Prevx GUI>Check for Updates or do a scan and it will Auto-Update. As always we will have to wait for Joe (PrevxHelp) to give us a change log!

I believe I have found a small error.

Since I know that Marco G. (Italian PREVX malware technology specialist and owner of PC Al SICURO blog) is a member of wilderssecurity, I guess he will understand what the attached snapshot means


In other words PREVX is telling in italian that "it is up to date and now it is required to download the latest data base signatures"

are you sure, the first link is 83 Helix. I am using the beta and after a update it was still 82. but the other link did it.

You must be using 64bit and you must use the second link if you want to manually upgrade to the Beta/RC but I will reword the links in the first post! But both links are accurate and both are .183!

Isn't this when you check for updates via GUI and window says:
"You are currently using the newest Prevx software...etc"....perhaps there is a slight misread of "it is NOT necessary to download new definition updates"

The italian translation is wrong.
It is likely no italian noticed it but me

here is how it appears in english (see snapshot, please), in italian should be: "Stai usando le versione più recente di PREVX.
La funzione di rilevamento PREVX viene mantenuta costantemente aggiornata attraverso il data base on line della comunità prevx e non è quindi necessario scaricare il data base delle firme"

Hi,

I have the 64bit version running on Windows 7 (64bit) fine. However, when I check for updates, it tells me there is a newer version and even downloads it. However, it fails to actually install the new version stating that there was an error.

This has happened with every beta release for about a month. Is it a problem with my installation? Should I send a scan log to PrevX for analysis?

It would probably be worthwhile to try downloading the 64bit updated version directly from http://info.prevx.com/download.asp?grab=prevxcsibeta64 and see if that installs properly

The changelog for this update is:
- (PSO) Fixed an incompatibility with the Iolo Popup Blocker
- (PSO) Fixed an incompatibility with ESET blocking cookie access

I have done this previously and it installs fine. But when there is a newer version, I get the same error message. Is it worthwhile uninstalling completely and then reinstalling the latest version?

Yes you can do that also! Uninstall reboot and install from the link Joe gave you after the learning scan install your license key!

I have followed these instructions and now have 3.0.5.183 on my system. I shall wait until the next beta to see if it has solved the problem.

I have just come to update again (from 183) and I am getting the same message "Prevx Update Failed. Please try again later."

The update appears to download but will not install. Who should I send the scan log to?

Yes it just updated to .184

Can you try these steps?

After uninstall and Reboot and before you install search your computer for Prevx and delete all folders!

I have figured it out! AdMuncher was preventing the install. I have stopped AM and then tried to update and it has worked. I have now added PrevX to the "do not filter" option of AM to see how it goes from now.
